Princess pushes buttons on helicopter tour in Hamburg

Prince George had a slightly hard time this week.

When he arrived in Poland on Monday as part of the royals’s official European tour, he pouted his way down the runway. On Wednesday, when he arrived in Germany, he appeared to be extremely sleepy. (Perhaps he had just been woken up from an in-transit nap?)

But for Prince George, these incidents now seem to be distant memories of the past. Today, Kate Middleton and Prince William took their son and daughter to visit a helicopter before taking off from Hamburg, Germany, to head back to England. The helicopter in question was in fact the same type that Prince William often flies as part of his rescue work.

Immediately, 3-year-old Prince George was the picture of elation. He smiled. He gasped. He softly beamed as his hands floated up to his cheeks. Princess Charlotte, for her part, had a slightly more difficult time. After an all-star showing on Wednesday (accepting flowers, shaking hands, and discretely curtsying), poor Charlotte broke into tears after taking a tumble on the jetway.

Prince George’s reaction was not exactly surprising coming from a toddler his age.

However, we couldn’t help but wonder if something else was at play. Perhaps after a long week of being far from home, Prince George was also really happy to be heading home. After all, any 3-year-old would have a tough time during a five-day trip on the road. But add in cameras, strangers, and two busy parents, and we’d guess that George is pleased to be getting back to his regular routine.

Either way, one thing’s for sure: Prince George embodied Friday feels everywhere. Just like his recent meme-able case of the Mondays, Prince George once again proved his uncanny expressiveness. So here’s hoping that you’re just as happy as Prince George this Friday. It’s almost the weekend!
