Princess Eugenie’s baby will be closer to throne than Zara Tindall due to royal loophole

PRINCESS EUGENIE’s first child will be allowed to automatically take a royal title that was denied to Zara Tindall and her daughters due to a long-held tradition, a royal commentator has revealed.

When Princess Eugenie’s baby is born, they will force other royals like Zara Tindall and her children further down the line of succession, a commentator has explained. This is allowed to happen despite Zara’s mother, Princess Anne, being older than Eugenie’s father, Prince Andrew. Royally Obsessed podcast hosts Rachel Bowie and Roberta Fiorito discussed the loophole.

Ms Fiorito told listeners: “So many royal babies are coming this year.

“We know that Eugenie’s baby is coming soon.

“Hello magazine has an unnamed source that says mid-February, which is really soon.

“It could be a Valentine’s Day baby, who knows?”

She continued: “Because of that birth, Zara Tindall will now be 19th in line.

“Her eldest daughter, Mia Grace, will then become 20th.

“Eugenie’s baby will actually be placed at 11th.

“Even though Princess Anne is older than Andrew, it has to go first through the sons.”

Only a monarch’s grandchildren through sons automatically receive the royal status.

This means that despite being younger than Anne, Andrew and Prince Edward’s children take precedence over her.

Additionally the Duke of York and Earl of Wessex themselves are also before their sister in the line to the throne.

The old succession laws were only updated in 2011 after Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, and Prince William married.

Traditionally the heir to the throne is the first-born son of the monarch.

However under new laws, a first-born daughter can now take precedence over younger brothers.

This means that Princess Charlotte is in line for the throne before her younger brother, Prince Louis.

However the change hasn’t affected those born before the 2011 update, so Princess Anne is still behind her younger siblings.
