Princess Eugenie has published X-rays of her spine to raise awareness of the little-known condition scoliosis.

The 28-year-old, who will marry wine merchant Jack Brooksbank in October, had the 12in rods inserted after being diagnosed with the condition when she was 12.

She said: ‘I’m very proud to share my X-rays for the very first time. I also want to honour the incredible staff at The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital.’

Eugenie is patron of a £15 million appeal to build a new ward block for the hospital at Stanmore, north London.

The insertion of metal rods is one way of treating children with the condition in which the spine is curved too much.

They are lengthened as the child grows and removed when they reach adulthood.
