Princess Eugenie wedding: Will Sarah Ferguson give a speech at daughter’s royal nuptials?

Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank will say “I Do” at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle on Friday. Will the bride’s mother, Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, deliver a speech?

Sarah Ferguson, 58, will see her youngest daughter Princess Eugenie, 28, marry her fiancé Jack Brooksbank on October 12.

The pair are set to marry at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle – which is the same venue as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s nuptials earlier this year.

The bride and groom-to-be have invited 1,200 members of the public to watch the occasion from the grounds of Windsor Castle, with ITV televising the event during a special episode of This Morning.

But, will the mother of the bride, Fergie, mark the happy occasion by delivering a speech at the reception?

Sarah Ferguson could break from tradition and give a speech

While some plans for the big day have been revealed, the actual itinerary for the reception is currently unknown.

The pair will marry at 11am, and following their nuptials, a small carriage procession will take place through the town of Windsor.

Queen Elizabeth II, Princess Eugenie’s paternal grandmother, will then host a reception at Windsor Castle.

A black-tie evening reception will follow at the Royal Lodge in Windsor, where the bride’s parents, Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew, reside.

According to The Daily Telegraph, there will be a second day of celebrations on the Saturday, which is thought to be more “relaxed” to the previous day’s affairs.

Traditionally, a number of important figures in the wedding party deliver a speech during the reception.

Toasting to the couple, the father of the bride – in this case Prince Andrew – is typically the first to speak to guests.

However, many newlyweds ask family friends and/or the mother of the bride to take on this important role – meaning Fergie is also in the running.

Currently, it is not publicly known whether Sarah Ferguson or the Duke of York will deliver a speech.

The bride and groom tend to be the next people to speak, before the Best Man and Maid of Honour stand to make their toasts.

Princess Eugenie’s sister Princess Beatrice, 30, has been confirmed to be serving as the maid of honour for the special day.

However, the rest of the bridal party is yet to be publicly announced.

Will Princess Charlotte and Prince George be bridesmaid and pageboy?

Some contenders for the royal’s bridesmaids and pageboys are her cousin Prince William’s two oldest children.

Princess Charlotte, three, and Prince George, five, have taken on the important roles a number of times before – making them a possible choice.

According to a source close to Robbie Williams, the 44-year-old singer’s daughter Theodora Rose – who he shares with wife Ayda Field, 39, could be a flower girl.

Other possible youngsters in the wedding party are Princess Eugenie’s goddaughter – Lord Frederick Windsor’s daughter Maud Windsor – and J.P Morgan banking executive Olivier de Givenchy’s children, Ines and Louis.
