Princess Diana’s ‘big worry’ for Prince Harry’s future exposed

PRINCESS DIANA was worried about Prince Harry and how his fickle nature and lack of concentration might affect him in life, a royal expert has claimed.

Ingrid Seward, author and editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine, told the Daily Mail last year said Diana particularly worried about his education. Harry was not as academic as his older brother William, who was finding Eton quite challenging. Despite this, Diana insisted that Harry also attend the public boarding school, because otherwise he would be singled out as not being as smart.

However, she did worry about his lack of concentration and tendency to flit between different interests.

Diana apparently said: “Harry’s full of energy, but he flips from one thing to another and then loses interest.”

It is unclear whether this trait of being fickle remains with Harry today.

On the one hand, he was in the Armed Forces for 10 years, showing a strong dedication to that career, and continues to support veterans with initiatives like the Invictus Games, to this day.

He has also stayed loyal to key charitable efforts including those around mental health and conservation.

On the other hand, Harry can be known to make quite sudden decisions.

He proposed to Meghan Markle after just over a year of dating and the pair decided to step down as senior members of the Royal Family less than two years into that marriage.

When they were young, Harry was more “artistic and lively” than William, who was quieter and more sensitive.

Ms Seward told the Daily Mail: “Diana told me William was very sensitive and Harry was the artistic and lively one who could cope with anything.

“William was more academic than Harry but he didn’t find Eton very easy at that time, although he had lovely friends there.

“He said Harry would go to Eton, otherwise he’d be singled out as the one who wasn’t so bright, and she worried about his lack of concentration.”

In the end, Harry did join his brother at Eton but instead of going to university after school, he went straight into the Army.

While William went to St Andrews’ University, where he met Kate Middleton, and before him their father Prince Charles went to Cambridge, Harry decided to jump straight into the world of work.

The prince, who was affectionately known as Captain Wales by his fellow soldiers, often referred to his time in the Army as the best time of his life.

During his decade of service, he undertook two tours of Afghanistan.

However, after he and Meghan stepped down as senior royals, Harry was stripped of his military appointments, which will have been a huge blow for him.

These appointments included Captain General Royal Marines, Honorary Air Commandant, RAF Honington and Commodore-in-Chief, Small Ships and Diving, Royal Naval Command.

According to The Telegraph in April, the Duke of Sussex told friends he “cannot believe” what had happened in recent months and that he misses the army.

He told them he “misses the camaraderie” of life as a soldier.

While Diana was concerned about Harry’s lack of concentration, she will no doubt have been very proud to see the effort and dedication he put into his military career.

Likewise, he has been steadfast in what he wants for his family: Meghan and their son Archie Harrison Mountabtten-Windsor.
