Prince Harry will fulfil Princess Diana’s one wish by marrying Meghan Markle
Prince Harry will fulfil the late Princess Diana’s one wish for her sons through marrying Meghan Markle, a royal author has claimed. Lady Colin Campbell also said Diana would be happy her sons have chosen “appropriate life partners”.
Prince Harry, 33, the son of the late Princess Diana, who died at the age of 36, will marry Meghan Markle, 36, on May 19 2018.
Lady Colin Campbell, 68, a royal biographer who knew Diana when she was alive, has said Diana would be “thrilled” at the match.
She also gave a particularly significant reason why the late Princess Diana, who was once married to Prince Charles, 69, might approve the match.
“Diana wanted her sons to be ‘Men first and princes second,’ said the writer, who once appeared on I’m A Celebrity in 2015.
“That was her goal. She felt the royals were out of touch with society.”
Lady Colin Campbell is a member of the British aristocracy through marriage, as the ex wife of Lord Colin Ivar Campbell.
Lady Colin is the author of the 1998 biography The Real Diana, and also wrote the 2012 biography, The Queen Mother: The Untold Story of Elizabeth Boyes Lyon.
She describes Prince Harry’s bride to be as “a godsend for the monarchy”.
She added that their pairing is a “fascinating and welcome union for the direction of British society”.
Asked what Diana might have thought of the match, Lady Colin replied: “I would imagine she would have been absolutely thrilled.”
Did Prince William, 35, also fulfil his mother’s wish, in choosing Kate Middleton, 36, as a bride?
Yes, according to Lady Colin. “Both brothers have chosen the woman over the position.
“They have chosen women who will be appropriate life partners for them in terms of helping them through their responsibilities.”
“Meghan Markle is going to prove to be that partner, just like the Duchess of Cambridge.”
Last week, it was revealed Meghan and Harry’s request for a private wedding was refused.
The couple have had to bow to public demand rather than have the more private wedding they wanted, an insider has revealed exclusively to Express.
This compromise centres around a particular element of the wedding: the carriage ride.
The carriage procession will leave St. George’s Chapel at 1pm and take a route around Windsor Town, according to a statement from Kensington Palace.
However, it would seem this is not what Meghan initially wanted for the wedding. “The carriage wasn’t going to happen,” revealed the insider.
“Meghan wanted it to be their wedding – it was her request for it to be much more private than Kate and William’s wedding.”
However, the couple were eventually forced to bow to public demand.
“The Palace received thousands of letters saying the public want to be part of the wedding,” said the insider.
Bid For Freedom, a new stage play by Lady Colin Campbell, will be performed exclusively at Castle Goring in three performances on 31 May, 1 June and 2 June.
