PRINCESS DIANA’S former butler Paul Burrell joined the Loose Women panel this afternoon to talk about everything from I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! to the royal family. During the chat, he revealed Princess Diana planned to take sons Prince Harry and Prince William to America.
This Christmas, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will not join the Queen at Sandringham and will instead spend time with the Duchess of Sussex’s family in the US. Speaking about the couple’s plans, Paul said the Queen would be sad not to be with them but would understand why they’re spending time in America, adding Princess Diana also looked to spend time there.
Paul began: “They’re not the first royals who have decided to leave the country or to have another home in another country.
“Diana was also deciding to spend some of her time in America.
“In fact, the day she died, on her desk were plans of a home in Malibu in California, which she was in the process of purchasing.
“She was going to take William and Harry for three, four weeks every year to America to give them a different culture, to give them a different insight into life.

“So, it’s not new and all of this revelation stuff with the royal family, that’s not new.”
The reveal came after Paul noted he felt the Queen would be upset not to have Prince Harry and Meghan Markle at Sandringham.
He explained: “She loves her family around her, she’s a granny and a mum.
“She loves to have them all around her at Sandringham.

“She loves to take the little children and decorate the Christmas tree. They put on the last baubles.
“She revels in that. She will be [upset].
“She’ll understand Harry and his new wife want a different lifestyle.
“Meghan is American so she’s going to bring up her children half in America and half here.
“She’s going to give them both cultures, that’s clear to me.”
Meghan and Harry have been incredibly busy this year with a royal tour and welcoming their first child.
Taking baby Archie to America for the festive period would give him the chance to spend more time with Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland.
Earlier in the interview, Paul touched on how the Queen may react to Prince Andrew’s interview for Newsnight.
