Princess Charlotte ‘to spark major fashion boom’ as interest in George moves away

PRINCESS CHARLOTTE will “spark a fashion boom” as interest in Prince George moves away in later years regarding his dress sense, a royal commentator has claimed.

And it is expected to continue as Charlotte gets older and begins to carry out her first engagements as a member of the Royal Family.

Victoria Murphy, a former Daily Mirror royal correspondent, explained how people will no doubt be more interested in the fashion styling of Charlotte as she became a teenager, as opposed to Prince George who will like “just be wearing jeans”.

She was discussing the topic of royal fashion with ITV’s Susanna Reid, who said the “financial value of a little girl as compared to a boy is being assessed all the time” after Charlotte was born.

Ms Murphy responded: “People talk about clothes that George wears selling out, the little tank top that he wore in his Christmas pictures sold out instantly.

“But I think with a girl there’s no doubt that we’re going to see that tenfold. I mean no one talks about what William’s wearing do they, but everyone talks about what Kate is wearing so I think that both now, and certainly as she gets older when she becomes a teenager, once she starts to do official engagements, people are gonna be really interested.”

She added: “You’ve got the little boy thing, which is cute for a while, and then it’s just going to get to the point where he’s just wearing jeans, and I don’t imagine anyone talking about a 16-year-old boy is wearing.”

Members of the Royal Family are always critiqued for the attire they wear, particularly the likes of Meghan Markle, Kate, Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice.

For example, during the height of excitement surrounding Meghan and her marriage to Prince Harry, fans from across the globe sought to copy the Duchess of Sussex’s dress sense after the wedding.

It was reported in 2018 that brides were looking for long veils, similar to Meghan’s, which was designed by British fashionista Clare Waight Keller.

Another example includes when Meghan helped an independent Brooklyn-based jewellery brand increase its sales, with 20,000 people trying to snap up an ethically-made gold ring she wore.

Founder Rony Vardi told Women’s Wear Daily how there wasn’t much demand for the thin stackable rings when she opened the doors of her multi-brand New York boutique.

The Threadbare ring is made by “hands that are employed under ethical standards” in New York.

It is now the celebrity-approved brand’s best seller.

Ms Vardi said: “It’s so easy to wear and effortless. You can just leave it on, it’s not fussy.

“It’s a tiny, easy spark of gold and luxury, it’s a lovely treat you can have yourself that’s not super flashy and feels personal to you.”
