Princess Beatrice wedding: Meghan Markle to ‘upstage’ royal bride with return from Canada

PRINCESS BEATRICE’S wedding could be overshadowed by Meghan Markle’s return from Canada to attend the ceremony, a royal expert has claimed in a debate about the big day on today’s edition of This Morning.

Princess Beatrice, 31, became the topic of conversation on This Morning today, with hosts Phillip Schofield, 57, and Holly Willoughby, 39, talking to royal commentator Camilla Tominey to speak about the latest news circulating from the monarchy. With Meghan Markle, 38, and her husband Prince Harry, 35, making the decision to share their time between the UK and Canada after stepping back from duties as senior members of the Royal Family last month, the journalist commented their presence at the Princess of York’s Royal wedding could steal the bride’s thunder.

It has been officially revealed by Buckingham Palace Princess Beatrice and he fiancé Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are set to tie-the-knot on May 29 this year.

The ceremony will take place at the rather intimate location of The Chapel Royal in St James’ Palace, meaning the guest list will need to be precise.

This will come some months after the Duke and Duchess’s move to Canada and as Prince Harry is the cousin of the bride, he and his wife are likely to be in attendance.

However, Camilla explained the couple’s appearance at the wedding could be more of a talking point than the bride and groom.

Speaking of the location, Camilla said: “This is tiny. Imagine being in Westminster Abbey where [Prince] William and Kate [Middleton] got married.

“Capacity two thousand. The Chapel Royal, which is a lovely little church, is one hundred and fifty guests.

“It’s going to be very low key,” she added, before explaining some of the key talking points which will emerge from the day.

Amongst them was Meghan and Harry’s attendance, with the royal commentator saying: “Obviously they have to invite them, but they’re going to be worried.”

Might be worried by a bit of upstaging

“There’s no reason why they wouldn’t go, they are still family,” Camilla stated.

But, she added: “But as the bride, she might be worried by a bit of upstaging.

Princes Beatrice has made no official comment on Meghan and Harry’s recent news, with the only correspondence given by Buckingham Palace to where the Royal Family stands on the matter.

With preparations underway for the big day, the bride and groom have revealed how they would like their guests to celebrate with them.

Instead of being showered with gifts, the couple are asking attendees not to provide them with presents and instead asked them to “learn more about” two charities close to their heart.

As founder and trustee of Big Change, a charity which strives to get society to work together to support young people with their ambitions, Princess Beatrice has asked guests to find out more about her work.

Big Change CEO Essie North said in a statement on the charities website: “We’re honoured that Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi have asked their wedding guests to learn more about and support Big Change.

“We hope that the increased awareness she has brought to Big Change will help us support more brilliant projects making a real difference to young people from all walks of life, but especially those who are the most vulnerable.”
