PRINCESS Beatrice and her boyfriend, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi have taken a romantic trip to an exotic island in Kenya – the same place where Mr Mozzi proposed to his ex-girlfriend years ago.
Princess Beatrice, 30, and her beau, Mr Mozzi, 35, were pictured for the first time together while on holiday in Lamu, a remote island off Kenya. The affectionate couple were seen holding hands as they strolled along the beach in the evening sunset, after spending a relaxing afternoon under the hot African sun. The island is one of Mr Mozzi’s favourite holiday destinations – and also where he asked his ex-girlfriend, Dara Huang, to marry him. Mr Mozzi was engaged to Ms Huang for three-and-a-half years, and they both have a two-year-old son together, named Christopher Woolf.
The multi-millionaire proposed to his girlfriend in 2015, but ended their engagement in October – shortly before he started dating Princess Beatrice.
Asked if Mr Mozzi, known as Edo, had cheated on his fiancee, Ms Huang’s friend told the Daily Mail: “The timing pretty much says it all.”
A palace aide previously said: “Beatrice would never allow herself to break into another couple’s happiness, especially if there was a small child.”
Mr Mozzi was said to have been seeing Beatrice while still sharing his London home with Ms Huang and their son, Christopher.
Ms Huang’s father, Po-Tien, a retired scientist with US space agency NASA, previously told the Daily Mail Online: “Why would they want to go and break this up? I can’t understand it.
“It’s not fair but the Royal Family are so powerful. What can I do? I can’t do anything.”
Beatrice and Mr Mozzi celebrated the New Year in Kinzingo, Kenya – where the only bar in the area was located.
The princess, dressed in a blue-black print dress, danced the night away into the New Year with friends and Mr Mozzi by her side.
The next day, she travelled with Mr Mozzi and his family to a small village called Shela by boat, to view its antique craft stalls and ancient Swahili architecture.
Beatrice’s and Mr Mozzi’s family were said to have known each other closely for years before they started dating.
Sarah, the Duchess of York, Beatrice’s mother, is said to be thrilled about the pair’s relationship.
A friend said: “How sweet it is that two families who have known each other for so many years can think that something permanent might come of this.”
Mr Mozzi is believed to have arrived in Africa before Beatrice, posting an Instagram photo on Boxing day captioned: “Time to get lost – daydreaming and adventure.”
Meanwhile, Beatrice was in Sandringham for the Queen’s annual Christmas celebrations.
Mr Mozzi founded a real estate firm Banda in 2007 which specialises in developing homes for wealthy clients, and currently serves as the CEO of the company.
