QUEEN ELIZABETH II has marked Princess Beatrice’s birthday by sending her granddaughter a heartfelt message.
Princess Beatrice, 32, was born on August 8, 1988, at 8.18pm at the Portland Hospital. Beatrice is the oldest daughter of Prince Andrew, Duke of York, and Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York. The young royal is the Queen and Prince Philip’s fifth grandchild and is currently ninth in line to the throne. To mark the Princess’s birthday, the Queen took to her official Twitter and Instagram accounts to wish her granddaughter a happy day.
The celebratory post featured a photograph of Princess Beatrice and her grandmother, the Queen, during a Maundy Thursday service at York Minster.
It shows the duo smiling at one another as Princess Beatrice holds a bouquet of flowers.
The message accompanying the photo reads: “Wishing Princess Beatrice a very Happy Birthday! Her Royal Highness is The Queen’s 5th grandchild.”
The monarch was joined by other members of the Royal Family in wishing Beatrice a happy day.

The Princess’s mother, Sarah, Duchess of York, also shared a sweet message for “my dear Beatrice”.
She wrote on Twitter and Instagram: “8.8.88 at 8.18pm was one of the greatest and most proud moments of my life.
“You are unique and simply one of the most special people on this planet. Your ever loving and devoted Mum.”
Princess Eugenie also got involved in the birthday messages with an Instagram post dedicated to her older sister.

Alongside a selfie of the two sister, Eugenie wrote: “Happy happy Birthday dear Beabea.
“Here we are on the eve of your wedding. Still rocking a scrunch or hair accessory (since the 90s) and huge smiles on our faces. #happybirthday.”
Princess Beatrice shares a very close bond with her grandmother and grandfather.
The Queen and Prince Philip were among a handful of guests present at Beatrice’s wedding to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in July.

Not only was she in attendance, but the Queen played a hugely sentimental role within the nuptials.
Beatrice wore a dress and tiara belonging to her grandmother, which she refitted and reused for her own wedding.
An Instagram post by The Royal Family’s official page showed the Queen, Prince Philip, Beatrice and Edoardo outside the church where they tied the knot.
The post read: “Princess Beatrice wore a vintage dress by Norman Hartnell and the Queen Mary diamond fringe tiara, both belonging to Her Majesty the Queen.”

The Queen’s tiara holds added significance, as it is the one she wore on her own wedding day to Prince Philip in 1947.
A friend of the couple told The Sun that the Queen’s presence was instrumental to the planning of Beatrice’s wedding.
The friend said: “They were obviously very keen for the Queen to come so the wedding had to happen before she goes up to Balmoral, so this was a great opportunity.
“A massive wedding was out of the question because of coronavirus.”
