During Prince William and Kate Middleton’s day in Blackpool, William let it slip that he’s not a born hairstylist.
Fortunately for his young daughter Princess Charlotte, the internet has since helped him figure it out.
Until Princess Charlotte came along three years ago, Prince William never had to bother with styling long hair. But ever the hands-on father, he’s since stepped up the plate—thanks to the life-changing power of YouTube tutorials.
Yes, the same type of videos that helped you learn to fold a fitted sheet, also taught a future king how to put his daughter’s hair into a ponytail. This delightful bit of news came out during Prince William and Kate Middleton’s visit to Blackpool. According to People, a member of the local group Dads 4 Life bonded with Will over the hairstyling struggle.
“Never try to do a ponytail!” William said. “Nightmare.” He added that he did, eventually, crack the ponytail code, thanks to some helpful online videos. “I can do [Princess Charlotte’s] ponytail, but that’s about it as I don’t have enough hair to practice on!” Fair point, prince.
Then, Kate Middleton upped the ante. “Have you tried to do a plait [braid]?” she asked the Dads 4 Life member. “It’s the weaving… really hard.” Kate was definitely being modest, though. Just last week, we saw her braid someone’s hair during an appearance in Northern Ireland.
