He told viewers: “We’re now getting more details about the infection and the fact that they are monitoring his heart.
“The tone is definitely different from the people I speak to outside of the press offices.
“The mood is very concerned.
“Obviously they’re hoping to get him out by the end of the week and return to Windsor Castle.”
Prince Philip health: Duke has Palace ‘mood very concerned’ after hospital move
Mr Jobson said: ‘The mood is very concerned.’
Mr Jobson continued: “He’s not in a great state at the moment, it seems.
“The longest he’s ever been in hospital is for about 11 days or so.
“That was for a hip operation and he came walking out.
“So this is already two weeks, and extending beyond that to the end of the week.”
The Duke of Edinburgh was transferred to a different hospital.
Mr Jobson said: ‘Nobody else but Prince Charles has been in to see him.’
The royal commentator added: “He’s already had a visit from his son, Prince Charles.
“Nobody else but Prince Charles has been in to see him.
“He’s someone who likes a minimum of fuss, but this is now getting a little bit concerning.”
Mr Jobson reiterated that the mood at Buckingham Palace had “definitely shifted”.
PRINCE PHILIP ROYAL TIMELINE
He also said that the Duke “definitely” would not have liked the very public ambulance transport.
Philip has been taken to St Bartholomew’s, which is one of the best specialist hospitals in Europe.
He will undergo observation for a pre-existing heart condition.
A Palace spokesperson said: “The Duke remains comfortable and is responding to treatment but is expected to remain in hospital until at least the end of the week.”
Despite the latest developments in Philip’s health status, the Queen appeared upbeat as she unveiled a new statue of herself from Windsor Castle on Monday.
Prince Edward also appeared jolly when discussing his father’s stay in hospital, joking the Duke would be “frustrated” by the fuss.
