PRINCE LOUIS’ adorable birthday picture may not have been as smooth behind-the-scenes as the end result suggested with royal expert Chris Ship discussing the possible “tantrums” and “rows” in the process.
Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William’s youngest child, Prince Louis, celebrated his second birthday last week on April 23. To mark the occasion, Kensington Palace released a series of pictures of the young royal with his hands painted rainbow colours, and also one where the paint was all over his face. However, the taking of the picture may have involved a few “rows”, as ITV News Royal Editor Chris Ship and Producer Lizzie Robinson revealed on their Royal Rota podcast.
Mr Ship told listeners: “That’s like most people’s lives, isn’t it? There’s the Instagram life, everything’s perfect and blue and filtered.
“Then there’s the real-life which is that he probably had a few rows about getting this picture done and a few tantrums.
“There was probably lots of mess created.
“I thought that was quite sporting of them to admit that their life might not be as perfect some of their Instagram pages.”

Ms Robinson added: “I don’t know how he managed to keep his shirt quite so clean though.
“He’s absolutely covered in paint but his shirt remains immaculate.”
Mr Ship joked: “Maybe there are other pictures on the roll of film.
“You’ve got some amazing huge pictures of Louis with his hands covered in rainbow paint as he’s doing his own sort of two-year-old tribute to NHS frontline workers.”

He continued: “The rainbow symbol has become something that people are putting up in their windows to support those in the NHS.
“I thought it was quite a clever way from Kensington Palace of doing that.”
Ms Robinson agreed: “The photos are really sweet, he’s covered in paint.”

She continued: “The ones that we got last night he looked immaculate, his hands were the only thing covered in paint.
“Then this morning we had an Instagram versus reality.”
Prince Louis was forced to celebrate turning two under the nationwide coronavirus lockdown.
He and the rest of the Cambridge family are currently isolating in their Norfolk country home, Anmer Hall.
Princess Charlotte will also have her birthday in lockdown on May 2.
