Prince Louis is fast becoming my favourite member of the royal family. After making the most hilarious ‘grumpy face’ in front of the crowds from the balcony at Buckingham Palace last month, the one-year-old royal took his facial expression game to the next level yesterday at the polo.
Prince Louis – along with siblings Prince George and Princess Charlotte, mum Kate Middleton, cousin Archie Mountbatten-Windsor and aunty Meghan Markle – made a surprise appearance yesterday at at Billingbear Polo Club in Berkshire. The families were there to support Prince William and Prince Harry, who were playing in a charity polo match in memory of Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, the Leicester City Football Club chairman who was killed when his helicopter crashed at the club’s stadium in October last year.
The photos from the day provided a rare insight into the royals’ family life, and was the first time the public got to see baby Archie outside of official, posed-for pictures. But it wasn’t just the snaps of Meghan snuggling her two-month-old that we’re obsessed with – it’s also the series of photos of Prince Louis pulling funny faces at his aunt that are making us melt.
In the pictures, baby Louis can be seen trying on sunglasses that are way too big for him, sticking out his tongue and scrunching up his face as he looks up at Meghan and Archie.
Oh, Louis. Please take centre stage at all future royal events.
As well as larking around with adult-sized sunglasses, Prince Louis also got up to lots of other adventurous things yesterday, like taking mum Kate Middleton for a walk…
… and enjoying a picnic out of the boot of a car with his brother and sister, George and Charlotte.
After lunch, Charlotte and George enjoyed a game of football, but sadly for Louis he was a bit too young to join in.
Don’t worry, Louis. Next year, when Archie can walk, you’ll have a little friend to toddle around with.
