Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to ‘make first public appearance’ at Invictus Games
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are expected to make their first official joint appearance at the Invictus Games this weekend amid fierce speculation a royal engagement is imminent.
Prince Harry will be in Toronto for the next week as he oversees the Invictus Games – an international Paralympic-style multi-sport event created by the royal back in 2014.
And with Meghan Markle currently residing in the Canadian city, royal watchers say the couple are expected to appear in public together.
The Royal Family is known to stay at the Fairmont Royal York hotel on Front Street, where Prince Harry stayed a year ago when he was in town to announce his games would take place in the Canadian city.
But the 33-year-old is sure to drop by the Annex neighbourhood, which his 36-year-old girlfriend calls home in Toronto.
Harry has been known to visit Meghan’s home during previous trips to Toronto, and this time is sure to be no different.
The prince is also expected to be spotted at Toronto’s dog parks over the weekend because he is reportedly known to take strolls with the Suits actress and her two beloved dogs Bogart and Guy when he’s in town.
Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told Express.co.uk: “We are expecting, first to see them together officially at the Invictus Games next week and secondly as they are ‘happy and in love’ an engagement.
“The Invictus Games are Harry’s creation and an example of his commitment to helping wounded service personnel.”
The Invictus Games, will run from September 23 until September 30, could provide the ideal opportunity for the couple’s first official appearance in the city where they first met.
Athletes from 17 nations will be competing in the championships for wounded, injured or sick armed services personnel established by Prince Harry in 2014.
On top of his work with wounded military personnel and veterans, Prince Harry will also visit Toronto’s Centre for Addiction and Mental Health.
Afterwards, it is believed the couple spend more time in London.
The visit comes just weeks after Meghan, a divorcee, declared to Vanity Fair: “We’re a couple, we’re in love”.
Meghan revealed how her life was turned upside down after news of her relationship with Harry broke.
Speaking out about her royal boyfriend for the first time, Meghan spoke candidly about her “great love story” amid a whirlwind of rumours and gossip about the celebrity couple.
She revealed the pair met through friends in London and dated secretly for months.
