Prince Harry has ‘become more distant’ since marrying Meghan Markle
A royal photographer has said he’s seen a “massive change” in Prince Harry, since he married Meghan Markle in May.
Arthur Edwards from The Sun – who has been following the royal family for over 44 years and has known Harry since he was a baby – has spoken out about the difference in the Duke of Sussex’s personality on Yahoo UK‘s series The Royal Box.
“He’s become more distant, he’s not the good old Harry anymore,” Mr Edwards said. “He is certainly the Duke of Sussex now.”
Whilst Harry and Meghan show more affection in public than most royals, the royal photographer insists the 33-year-old prince has his guard up when it comes to his wife.
“Now he’s married he’s very, very protective of Meghan,” he explained. “I think Harry would have told her the downside of being in the royal family and there is a lot of downsides.
“I mean, Diana couldn’t crack it, and nor could the Duchess of York, Fergie, they found it tough and it is tough.”
Interest in the newlywed couple hasn’t waned since their wedding on May 19, which an estimated 1.9 billion people watched globally.
When news of his relationship with Meghan first broke in 2016, Harry took the unusual step in releasing a statement to share is “disappointment” about the treatment of his now wife.
“Prince Harry is worried about Ms. Markle’s safety and is deeply disappointed that he has not been able to protect her,” the statement reads. “This is not a game — it is her life and his.
“He has asked for this statement to be issued in the hopes that those in the press who have been driving this story can pause and reflect before any further damage is done.”
