PRINCE HARRY and Meghan Markle have made their wish to quit as senior royals crystal clear. However, one royal commentator has flagged a way Harry could return to royal life after Megxit
Prince Harry, 35, has stepped away from the institution that raised him to pursue a more peaceful life with his wife Meghan Markle and 10-month-old son Archie Harrison. They have settled in Los Angeles and Meghan and Harry will cease to be working members of the Royal Family from midnight tonight (March 31.) While Prince Harry’s decision to quit royal life shook the monarchy to its core there is still one way he could return to fold, a royal commentator has claimed.
From April 1 Meghan and Harry will no longer formally represent the Queen and will be free to pursue their own path.
The couple will work to become financially independent and be able to pursue lucrative opportunities they could not as working members of the firm.
However, despite the strict terms of Meghan and Harry’s royal step-down which include no longer using their HRH styles nor the word “royal” in association with their names, from tomorrow they will enter a trial period which will be reviewed by Queen Elizabeth II in 12 months time.
As part of the agreement the couple came to with the Queen, Prince Harry will be stopped from using his honorary military titles during this one-year trial period.

As a former soldier, Prince Harry was understood to be hurt by this decision.
His military career spanned 10 years and many of his charitable efforts, including the Invictus Games, focus on helping former servicemen.
However, there is a possibility Harry could reassume his honorary military positions in a year’s time as they will remain vacant until then.
Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told Express.co.uk: “The date of Megxit will be remembered as one of sorrow.”

He added: “Harry and Meghan finally bow out as senior working royals though it is worth remembering that this arrangement, whereby they remain part of the royal family, keep their titles and don’t use them and keep Harry’s military posts vacant, will be reviewed with the Queen in a year.
“They cannot use ‘royal’ as a brand as they wished.
“It is indeed a shame that this has happened.”
The three honorary military titles in question are Captain-General of the Royal Marines, Honorary Air Force Commandant of the Royal Air Force Base Honington, and Honorary Commodore-in-Chief of the Royal Naval Commands’ Small Ships and Diving.
The Captain-General of the Royal Marines role was handed to him by his grandfather Prince Philip, 98, on his retirement in 2017.
Whether Prince Harry will take up these roles again and in some ways return to royal life rests largely on what happens in the coming months and whether the Queen agrees.
Meghan and Harry’s relocation to Los Angeles has fuelled speculation the former actress may return to Hollywood.
The couple were expected to launch a new charitable foundation in the coming weeks but it is understood this has been postponed amid the coronavirus crisis.

They have hired top Hollywood communications and publicity figures to head up the project including celebrity PR firm Sunshine Sachs.
Catherine St Laurent, who used to work for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, has been appointed as their new chief of staff.
While Meghan and Harry are two of the most famous names in the world and seem set to succeed in this next chapter, Mr Fitzwilliams wonders if Harry may feel some regret.
He said: “The facts simply are that they are two of the biggest names on the planet.
“They have opted out of its most high profile royal family.
“The indications are that they will set up a sort of charity, certainly Harry’s record with Sentebale, Invictus and Heads Together is truly amazing. Meghan is now at home, in Hollywood.
“Their statement when stepping back as senior royals caused a crisis and many of the problems they have had seem to have been linked to their defining of what is and is not private.
“They now have their independence. I wonder if Harry has much regret now or will regret it in future given his upbringing.
“He wanted Diana to be proud of him so let us see what they achieve as a couple with enormous global reach in the coming months.”
