PRINCE George and Princess Charlotte may be royal darlings, but they are not afraid to get their hands dirty, their mother Kate has revealed.

The pregnant Duchess of Cambridge told all about her children’s messy hobby during her last royal engagement before she gives birth to her third baby next month.

During a visit to St Luke’s Community Centre in Islington, London, to promote the Commonwealth Big Lunch project, Kate and William were seen with their aprons on preparing food.

Kate said: “I’ve done that with George and Charlotte – making pizza dough.

“They love it because they can get their hands messy.”

The Big Lunch project is an international celebration of the Commonwealth, encouraging people from across member states to join together in an act of community.

She told Yolanda, from Bolivia, via an interpreter: “I was just saying how I really enjoy making pizza dough with George and Charlotte because they like getting their hands messy.”

But when asked if she spoke fluent Spanish, the Duchess laughed and said: “Sadly, no.”

Prince William and Kate’s nanny, Maria Teresa Turin Borrallo, is from Palencia, northern Spain, and has been teaching George and Charlotte a few words of Spanish, she said.

George, aged four, can count up to ten in Spanish, while Charlotte, two, is not far behind.

Kate, 36, will now officially be on maternity leave, having carried out her last engagement on Thursday.

Earlier in the day she and Prince William attended a SportsAid event at Olympic Park, where they watched a wheelchair basketball session and met the players.

Many of the teammates are expected to compete at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

SportsAid is a charity that helps young British sportsmen and women who want to compete in the Olympics, Paralympics and World Championships.

The Duchess then watched a media training session for the athletes and participated in a Commonwealth quiz.

This year’s Commonwealth Games will take place on the Gold Coast, Australia, next month – and Prince Charles will visit the event with Camilla.
