Prince Charles to receive VERY SPECIAL ‘revealing and intimate’ 70th birthday present

The BBC has promised Charles, Prince of Wales and heir apparent to the British Crown, an extra special birthday present to celebrate the future King’s 70th birthday next month.

The monarch-to-be will cherish the “unique” gift all his life, and look back on it fondly as he grows old to remember the milestone birthday.

Prince Charles will get his very own BBC documentary, which promises to provide a “revealing and intimate portrait of the longest-serving heir to the throne, who still feels he has a lot more to do”.

Charlotte Moore, director of BBC Content, said: “It’s a real privilege to be given access to the Prince of Wales and those closest to him to mark his 70th birthday.

“This intimate documentary will offer a unique insight into his life and work and those who know him best.”

According to the BBC, the programme reveals how Charles, who works with several charities and is a patron of more than 400 organisations, believes his work is far from finished.

The 60-minute documentary, which will be broadcast next month to coincide with the Duke of Cornwall’s birthday on November 14, is entitled Prince, Son and Heir: Charles at 70, and has been described by the BBC as an “intimate documentary” offering “a unique insight” into the future King.

Filmmaker John Bridcut has been given access to the Prince over the past 12 months, both at work and away from the public eye.

Mr Bridcut has worked with the Prince of Wales on The Passionate Prince (2008) and The Prince and the Composer (2011), as well as on two film portraits of the Queen, Elizabeth at 90 (2016) and A Jubilee Tribute (2012) for the BBC.

Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, and Prince Charles’s sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, have also been interviewed for the film.

The documentary, which will air on BBC One, will offer unfettered behind-the-scenes access to the Prince’s daily routine as viewers gain an unparalleled perspective into his royal duties and life.

Speaking on a recent ITV documentary about his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, the Prince discussed his Royal responsibilities.

The Prince of Wales, the monarch’s successor and the next leader of the Commonwealth, was reflecting upon his role as a Royal.

He said: “People don’t always understand the concept of duty.

“I think a lot of the time you have to be brought up to understand what it actually means.

“Minding about other people, minding about what happens in this country and the Commonwealth, and that’s the only way, all the masses of people who need to be encouraged and thanked.”

Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, is helping to plan a “very special” Buckingham Palace dinner and concert to commemorate her husband’s landmark birthday, it emerged last month.

But sadly for the heir to the throne, two extremely important guests will not make the occasion.

Prince Harry and his wife the Duchess of Sussex will not be able to attend the dinner because they will be away on their upcoming tour of Australia, New Zealand, Tonga and Fiji.

The tour coincides with the 4th Invictus Games, which will be held in Sydney this year.

Prince Harry’s flagship international sporting event sees wounded, injured or sick armed services personnel and their associated veterans take part in sports including wheelchair basketball, sitting volleyball, and indoor rowing.
