Prince Charles once made it clear to Queen Elizabeth II and the other members of the royal family that Camilla Parker Bowles was a non-negotiable part of his life. This revelation was included in Penny Junor’s book.

In “The Duchess: The Untold Story,” Junor described the aftermath of Princess Diana’s untimely death in 1997. He said that Her Majesty wanted Camilla gone at that time, but she had also wanted the Duchess of Cornwall to be out of her son’s life while the Princess of Wales was still alive.

“It was nothing personal,” Junor wrote. “She had been very fond of Camilla in all the years she had been married to Andrew, but it was Camilla who had been responsible, wittingly or not, for all the disasters that had befallen the prince since his marriage,” she added.

However, Prince Charles made it perfectly clear to anyone who listened that Camilla would always be a part of his life. Camilla changed Prince Charles’ life for the better, and Camilla gave the future king all of the support that he needed during the difficult times of his life. “She had rescued him from the depths of depression, had shown him love and comfort, approval, tenderness that had been so woefully lacking from any other quarter,” Junor said.

Meanwhile, Prince Charles also became infuriated with his mom during his 50th birthday celebration in 1998. Princess Diana had only been dead for a year at that time. The Queen decided to not invite Camilla to the gathering

“The public display of warmth between them that night belied the real situation. The Prince was infuriated by his mother’s continued hostility towards the woman he loved,” Junor said.

But several years later, things became better for Camilla and Prince Charles. The Queen allowed them to tie the knot in a civil ceremony in 2005. Today, Camilla gets to spend time with the Queen regularly. They attend royal engagements together, and they’ve also been photographed talking and laughing in public.

In related news, Prince William and Prince Harry also struggled to let Camilla into their lives after their mom’s death. But now the trio has a good relationship with each other.
