PRINCE CHARLES first heartbreak with future wife Camilla has been exposed as royal experts reveal how the heir was “crushed” after hearing devastating news.
Prince Charles was left heartbroken after learning Camilla had married Andrew Parker Bowles in the 1970s. The Prince of Wales had hoped while he fulfilled his military service Camilla would wait for his return. Royal experts Dickie Arbiter and Katie Nicholl also revealed the emotional turmoil the future king went through during this period.
The pair revealed this information during the Channel 5 documentary, Charles and Camilla: King and Queen in Waiting.
Mr Arbiter said: “Charles was in his 20s and was having to do military service because he would one day go to be commander in chief.
“He then joined the navy to follow his father, grandfather and two great grandfathers.
“I think it was very important to him to fulfil that role because that was what was expected of him.”

The narrator said Camilla then continued with her life as Charles was away learning how to become the future king.
Mr Arbiter continued: “Like a lot of young ladies, they don’t like their men disappearing out of their lives
“Princes Charles did disappear out of her life and she married Andrew Parker Bowles.”
Royal expert Katie Nicholl reflected on how Prince Charles would have been feeling after the devastating news.

“He had gone away to serve and hoped that Camilla would wait for him.
“He certainly thought the relationship had legs, even if his family didn’t.”

Royal expert Emily Andrews reflected on what Camilla may have been thinking regarding joining the Royal Family.
Ms Andrews said: “If she had even entertained the thought of being Queen she would have thought well that is it, I am waving goodbye to that.
“That is because in the 1970s there was no way a divorcee could marry a member of the Royal Family let alone the heir to the throne.”
