PRINCE CHARLES and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall are the future heads of the British Royal Family. However, there is one difficult decision Charles will have to make in regards to his wife once he’s King.
Prince Charles, 71, and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, 72, have been married for 15 years and while the start of their relationship was marred by scandal they have finally won over the British public, a royal commentator has claimed. Charles and Camilla’s affair first emerged while Charles was still married to Princess Diana which created some ill-feeling towards them.
Princess Diana’s tragic death in a car crash in 1997 further cemented public opinion against Camilla and there was still a sense of controversy around their relationship when Charles and Camilla married in 2005.
In the years since their wedding, Camilla has managed to transform her public image and win over Britons – but one controversy remains.
Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told Express.co.uk: “There is no doubt that the Duchess of Cornwall has climbed high in public esteem.
“Over the years she has performed her duties admirably and there is no doubt whatever of her charm and of her reliability.
“She sees her role to support Charles and the institution of monarchy much as the Duke of Edinburgh does to the Queen, but in very different circumstances.”

Mr Fitzwilliam’s compared Camilla’s “blissfully happy” bond with Charles to that of the Duke of Edinburgh’s and the Queen’s.
He said: “She makes him blissfully happy and their chemistry together has been perfection during the 15 years they have been married.
“There is so much that they share including, most importantly, a similar sense of humour.”
Mr Fitzwilliams praised the way Camilla has even faced her fear of flying to serve the Crown.

He said: “Also, despite her dislike of flying, she has handled her trips abroad impeccably.
“Her work for charity is undeniably impressive.”
Despite the way Camilla has grown into her royal role and provided vital support to Charles, he will have to make a difficult decision about her title when he becomes king.
Charles is first in line to the throne and will take over the role when his mother Queen Elizabeth II, 94, can no longer serve.
According to Mr Fitzwilliams, it is Charles who will have to ultimately decide whether Camilla is his Princess Consort or Queen Consort.
At the time of their wedding, Clarence House confirmed Camilla would be known as Princess Consort but there is still a chance this could change.
Mr Fitzwilliams said: “The public like her. Yet one barrier remains.
“The official line is still that she will become Princess Consort when Charles ascends the throne which is in line with the views of the public in opinion polls through the years.
“If so, he would be the only king not have a queen consort.”

He added: “The memory of Diana still affects this pivotal issue.
“It may well be that the recent official clarification of her future status has been linked to the difficulties that the monarchy has faced in recent months.
“The final decision will be Charles’s when he ascends the throne.
“What is certain is that she will bring dedication and commitment to any role which she undertakes.”
