Prince Charles arrives for 70th birthday bash at Buckingham Palace with Camilla
PRINCE Charles has arrived at Buckingham Palace with Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, for his 70th birthday party.
Charles and his wife of 13 years were spotted being driven into Buckingham Palace for the lavish event.
Clarence House shared a stunning picture of Charles and Camilla taken at their royal residence ahead of the party.
Charles looks smart in a bow tie, while Camilla is glamorous in a Bruce Oldfield gown.
Camilla completed her outfit with diamond earrings, a necklace and bracelet.
Prince William arrived at his father’s party with Kate, Duchess of Cambridge.
And Prince Harry drove Meghan Markle – who is expecting their first child – into Buckingham Palace for the evening do.
The Queen is hosting the glitzy party at the royal palace for Charles’s milestone birthday.
Members of the Royal Family and royalty from across Europe are attending the evening bash.
Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank – who she wed in a spectacular Windsor ceremony last month – are also in attendance, along with Zara Phillips and Mike Tindall.
Speaking at the black-tie do, the Queen gave a touching toast, with the monarch describing the moment as a “privilege for any mother” in the very personal speech.
The 92-year-old described her son as “passionate” and “creative”.
And the monarch praised her son’s charity and conservation work, adding that he was a “dedicated and respected” heir to the throne and a “wonderful father”.
It comes after Charles stepped out earlier today for a tea party at Spencer House, which was attended by 70 inspirational people who also turned 70 this year.
The heir to the throne looked delighted as he was given a balloon and birthday present by members of the press as he made his way to the event.
And last night, two new royal pictures were released to mark Charles’s big day.
The stunning family photos, which were taken in the gardens of Clarence House, show Charles with Camilla, his children, their wives and his grandchildren.
Prince George sits on his grandfather’s lap in the lovely pictures, while Princess Charlotte is next to Camilla.
Kate is holding Prince Louis, who was born in April, as she stand close to William.
Harry and Meghan also feature in Charles’s pictures, with the Duke of Sussex wrapping his arm around the Duchess of Sussex in a typically affectionate display.
Speaking in the House of Commons today, Prime Minister Theresa May paid tribute to Charles.
Mrs May said: “Throughout the Prince of Wales’ life his commitment to public service has been total.
“The more one looks at (his) life, the more one sees a man who has spent 70 years defying expectations and refusing to be categorised.”
Last week Charles was widely praise for a new BBC documentary to mark his milestone birthday.
Charles was born at Buckingham Palace on November 14, 1948, four years before his now 92-year-old mother became Queen following the death of George VI.
As Britain’s heir apparent, Charles has waited longer than any of his predecessors to become monarch and would be the oldest-ever king in a lineage that dates back 1,000 years.
