Prince Charles admits he is ‘FALLING APART’ and will NOT be wearing SPEEDOS
PRINCE CHARLES has admitted that “bits” of him are “falling off at regular intervals” as the king-to-be approaches 70 years of age, it has been reported.
The Prince of Wales, who will turn 70 in November, has admitted that he can “no longer squeeze into a pair of budgie smugglers.”
He said: “I do know only too well – and understand – the strange feeling of disbelief that this is actually happening and that never again, for instance, will it be possible to squeeze into a pair of budgie smugglers.”
Speaking at Government House in Brisbane, he added: “I don’t know about you, ladies and gentlemen, but now bits of me keep falling off at regular intervals.
“‘Don’t worry’, they keep telling me, ‘you have brilliant genes’.
“But the trouble is I can’t even get into them either.”
During the Governor of Queensland Paul de Jersey’s reception, Prince Charles also talked about how much he adores Australia and how he first visited 52 years ago.
He said: “When I first came to Australia, Australian manhood was partly defined by how many schooners of beer you could line up on the bar – and drink – before the pubs closed early.”
He went on to speak about the challenges facing the environment, saying: “we are destroying our own life support systems, along with our children’s and grandchildren’s’ future”.
Describing Australia as “an example for us all”, the Prince said “Aussie values” were a force for good.
He added: “Amidst all this, the Aussie character that is so exemplified by the concept of fairness and ‘fairgo’ is what I believe the world needs so desperately and so urgently – a ‘fairgo’ for people, our planet and for nature herself.”
This comes after Prince Charles forked out on a forty quid hat for Camila a day after she left him to continue his tour down under alone.
Donning a grass skirt, the Prince of Wales hit the shops and picked up a handbag and hat for £40 at a market stall in Vanuatu.
The 69-year-old handed the cash over and quipped: “They make such wonderful gifts don’t they.”
His trip to the South Pacific island came on the fourth day of his week-long tour of Australia.
On Friday, the Duchess of Cornwall flew home early on a commercial flight to London without her husband-of-13 years while he went on to north Queensland and the Northern Territory, finishing the tour Vanuatu on April 10.
This means the couple will spend their wedding anniversary on April 9 apart.
According to a palace insider speaking to Express.co.uk, this is because the Duchess of Cornwall “doesn’t want to take too much on”.
The source added: “The Duchess doesn’t want this, she does get tired.
“When they visit Australia on a tour the Duchess is coming back early.
“The schedule is too much for her, as she’s 70 years old. She doesn’t want to take too much on.”
