There are reports Meghan Markle feels that Kate Middleton is receiving special treatment by the British royals, following the Tatler article claiming the Duchess of Cambridge was feeling “exhausted” by her current workload.

A source has told the Daily Mail the Duchess of Sussex is upset at how swiftly the palace has responded to criticism of Kate as opposed to staying silent during the peak of media backlash against her.

“Meghan said Kensington Palace never once came to her defence when she was being shredded by the media,” the source reportedly told the publication.

“Now Kate gets a bit of negative press, and the palace comes out in less than 24 hours to rebuke the claims made against her.”

The report claims that Prince Harry pleaded with the palace to intervene but was refused.

The palace had released a statement on Prince Harry’s behalf in November 2016 while the couple were engaged, however following their wedding it was left to the couple themselves to deal with negative press.PauseMuteCurrent Time 0:00/Duration 1:29Loaded: 11.04% FullscreenSTUFFThe Duke and Duchess of Sussex first met back in 2016.

“Some of this has been very public – the smear on the front page of a national newspaper; the racial undertones of comment pieces; and the outright sexism and racism of social media trolls and web article comments,” the palace statement read.

“Prince Harry is worried about Ms Markle’s safety and is deeply disappointed that he has not been able to protect her.”

Following their wedding, negative press about Meghan’s struggle to fit into the royal family continued.

“This is really a slap in the face for Harry because he repeatedly asked for an updated, revised media policy – or at least a conversation about his concerns,” the source said. “All fell on deaf ears, and then Kate comes along, snaps her fingers and gets an outpouring of support.

“Meghan says it’s just so telling.

“She explained this was one of the main reasons why she and Harry said their goodbyes to royal life – the lack of support and complete disregard for the pain and anguish Meghan suffered while being crucified in the media.

“Meghan said, rather than backing her, she was made to feel like she was asking too much, expecting too much, when all she wanted was support from the powers that be.”

A lack of support has been cited as one of the reasons why Meghan and Harry stepped back from royal life.
