It turns out that if Kate gives birth to a little boy, he would become the first mle ever to be behind a woman in the succession order.

This is how the new royal baby will shake up the royal family.

Princess Charlotte will stay fourth in line to the throne.

It’s all because the Queen shook up the royal family laws just before Princess Charlotte was born, meaning gender would play no part in the line of succession to the throne.

Under the revamped Succession to the Crown Act, this of course means that Princess Charlotte will be fourth in line to the throne and if the royal baby is a boy, he would be fifth.

Due to the fact that the new baby will have two siblings ahead of them in the line of succession, it makes it highly unlikely that they will every be king or queen.

Prince George is still second in line after his dad, Prince William.

Prince Andrew famously leaped past his older sibling, Princess Anne, making him second in line to the throne after his brother, Prince Charles, when he was born in 1960.

It comes after Kensington Palace announced in a statement last night that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expecting their third child.

“The Queen and members of both families are delighted with the news.

“As with her previous two pregnancies, the Duchess is suffering from Hyperemesis Gravidarum.

“Her royal highness will no longer carry out her planned engagement at the Hornsey Road Children’s Centre in London today. The Duchess is being cared for at Kensington Palace.”
