Meghan Markle’s ‘PA quit after being reduced to tears by Duchess of Sussex demands’
Meghan Markle left her personal assistant in tears with her demands forcing her to quit, it has been claimed.
Melissa Toubati, 39, handed in her notice after working for the Duchess of Sussex for six months following the Royal Wedding because it reportedly got “too much”. The French assistant, who had worked for Robbie Williams and wife Ayda Field, had played “a pivotal role in the success of the Royal Wedding”, but has now sensationally resigned. A source told The Mirror: “Her job was highly pressurised and in the end it became too much.
“Meghan put a lot of demands on her and it ended up with her in tears.
“Melissa is a total professional and fantastic at her job, but things came to a head and it was easier for them both to go their separate ways.”
These claims are the latest in a series of reports about the 37-year-old’s relationship with staff.
In the run up to the wedding she demanded air fresheners were used in St George’s Chapel before the Royal Wedding because of its “musty smell”, according to claims.
The Duchess reportedly couldn’t stand the smell of the 15th century chapel and wanted the air fresheners to be used before her guests arrived.
Royal insiders told The Daily Mail that the 37-year-old’s request was turned down because it was pointed out that St George’s Chapel is regular place of worship for the Queen and had been for successive monarchs.
She was told if the chapel was good enough for the Royals then it was good enough for her.
In another instance Meghan reportedly got into a row with her sister-in-law the Duchess of Cambridge.
The explosive row about the treatment of staff, denied by the Palace, took place before Meghan and Harry’s wedding in May, the source told The Sun.
They said: “Her and Kate fell out when she b*****ked Kate’s staff.”
Kate reportedly told the former Hollywood actress: “That’s unacceptable, they’re my staff and I speak to them.”
This fiery exchange was apparently a one-off, although tensions have been growing between the Duchesses.
The source said: “It’s a tricky situation, but it was a one-off and they are determined to maintain a positive relationship even though they are obviously very different in their approach.”
A Kensington Palace spokesman said of the row claims: “This never happened.”
The rumours began to stir after it was announced Prince Harry and Meghan would move out the Kensington Palace to live in Frogmore Cottage, Windsor early next year.
However, one royal source defended Meghan and told The Mirror: “She is simply not afraid to express her opinion.
“While many find her a little pushy there are many in the royal household who have quickly taken to her.”
