Royal wedding: Meghan Markle’s DIVORCE mentioned on invitation in this important detail

ROYAL WEDDING: The official invitations for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s wedding are said to have referenced the LA born actress’ divorcee status. Meghan divorced film producer Trevor Engelson in 2013 after a two year long marriage, and the fact was mentioned in a small detail on the wedding invitations.

The royal wedding of Meghan Markle, 36, and Prince Harry, 33, will take place on Saturday 19 May 2018 at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, and the official invitations were released earlier this month.

Meghan has been married once before, to film producer Trevor Engelson, 41, whom she married in 2011 and divorced two years later.

Her divorce was acknowledged in a subtle but important detail on the official wedding invitation, although many may have missed it.

However, there is an important detail that many seem to have missed on the invitation, which was circulated on the official Kensington Palace Twitter account.

It seems Meghan’s 2013 divorce from film producer Trevor Engelson has been subtly acknowledged in the wording of the invitation.

A particular phrase denotes the fact that Meghan has already been divorced once before her engagement to Prince Harry.

The invitation wording reads: ”His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales KG KT requests the pleasure of the company of [insert guest name name] at the marriage of His Royal Highness Prince Henry of Wales with Ms Meghan Markle at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle on Saturday 19th May 2018 at 12 noon followed by a reception at Windsor Castle.”

It is believed the use of the title “Ms” to describe Meghan is the appropriate way to acknowledge a female divorcee.

This is in contrast to Kate Middleton, 36, who was described as “Miss Catherine Middleton” on the wedding invitation circulated ahead of her marriage to Prince William, 35, in 2011.

Meghan was previously described as “Ms” in the announcement of her engagement to Prince Harry in late November.

Clarence House released a tweet which read: “The Prince of Wales is delighted to announce the engagement of Prince Harry to Ms. Meghan Markle.”

The title Ms was initially established as a way to describe a woman without acknowledging her marital status.

So what is the significance of the royal family using it? It is a positive sign of progress in the royal family, according to one expert.

“This is another sign of the royal family moving with the times,” Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told the Independent.

“It is also appropriate as Meghan is a feminist. The use of Ms is a contemporary way of avoiding using Mrs or Miss.

“I think it certain that this is also something Meghan would have approved of.”

Yesterday, the “private” reason Meghan Markle wanted a different wedding to Kate Middleton was revealed.

Meghan and Prince Harry’s wedding will be a lot more “private” than Kate and Prince William’s, a source exclusively revealed to Express.co.uk.

The 2011 wedding was a state occasion – as Prince William is second in line to the British throne – and took place at Westminster Chapel before 1,900 guests.

Meanwhile, it is believed Meghan and Harry’s wedding will not be a full state occasion, because Harry is further down in the order of succession – currently fifth in line to the throne. “It is pretty much going to be their wedding, a much more private affair,” a palace insider revealed.

Asked whose decision it was for the wedding to be a more private one, the source said it was “Meghan’s request”, but Prince Harry “100 per cent agreed”.
