Meghan Markle vs Kate Middleton: BOMBSHELL study reveals which Duchess is more influential
MEGHAN MARKLE, the Duchess of Sussex, and Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, are two of the most internationally well-loved figures from the British Royal Family, with their fashion influence inspiring millions over the world.
Since her engagement to Prince William, the Duchess of Cambridge has been a style icon for women in the UK, and globally, as she inspires with her regal grace and classic British beauty.
Eight years later, and the alluring Duchess of Cambridge is still an enduring source of inspiration in the US, with the clothes she wears selling out almost instantly.
Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, has also surged in popularity since her marriage to Prince Harry this May.
And, after her recently-concluded Royal tour, Meghan’s influence looks set to grow.
But who is the more influential Duchess in the United States specifically?
According to an explosive new study, Kate is still the most influential Royal in style terms.
UK consulting firm Brand Finance surveyed 1,515 Americans across the country to gauge their feelings towards the British Royal Family.
Brand Finance director Alex Haigh said in the report: “The monarchy is one of the most defining features of Brand Britain, and the
“Endorsement by any Royal, but particularly the Duchesses, is like the mythical golden touch and can transform a brand’s performance overnight.”
Mr Haigh’s data showed both Duchesses are highly influential in the US.
The research cites the “Kate Middleton effect” as a key reason for the Duchess of Cambridge’s continuing fashion influence over American shoppers and those who follow her style.
In fact, Catherine is the most influential Royal fashion influencer in the US, though her sister-in-law, Meghan, has proven she can also get products flying off the shelves.
When the Duchess of Sussex stepped out on day one of her first Royal tour with husband Prince Harry, her dress – the Blessed dress by Karen Gee – was so popular its official website went down because of the sheer number of people trying to buy a garment worn by their Royal idol.
But Kate remains the most powerful Royal influencer.
When the Duchess of Cambridge wears a British product, its desirability sky-rockets by 37.6 percent among Americans, the study reveals.
Kate’s impact is most keenly noted when it comes to fashion and jewellery – though she also influences Americans in their home item and car choices.
Meghan can increase a given product’s desirability across the pond by 35 percent, while Prince Harry can give a 31.9 percent boost and Prince William a 27 percent increase.
The survey was, however, conducted before Prince Harry and Meghan’s Royal tour, which could likely skew the results in Meghan’s favour.
Of Meghan’s fashion influence, Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told Express.co.uk: “Meghan can wear the most stunning gowns.
“There is this fashion element because you have got tremendous media interest – and also the follow on from this is, of course, the fact the fashion industry benefits tremendously from the Royal Family and when they wear a particular outfit that – or its equivalent – can very often sell out.”
