MEGHAN MARKLE, the Duchess of Sussex, has been warned it would be “hard” to return to acting after becoming a royal, following the revelation Princess Diana was set to star in a sequel to The Bodyguard.
In 2012 Kevin Costner revealed Princess Diana was in line to star in the Hollywood production but plans were shelved after the princess’ untimely death in 1997. This week Mr Costner confirmed the claim and also warned it would be “hard” for Meghan Markle to now return to acting. Speaking to Ross King on ITV’s Lorraine, he was asked: “Interesting of course with Meghan Markle now, gone the other way from acting into royalty.
“Do you think it’s the kind of thing she could go back to doing, because the way the world has changed so much now, and maybe if Diana had been in the Bodyguard too?”
The American actor replied: “It would be hard, because if you’re Harry, and he seems like a great guy, it’s like that’s why I’m not married than actress, I don’t want to see my wife kissing somebody.
“I’m on Harry’s side, so this is the step you go and I don’t want to be a person that’s ever limiting somebody.
“But there’s so much thought that goes into taking on number one being a wife, and then being in this circle that I don’t even understand, you know royalty.

“It’s a unique spot and I think we watch it from across an ocean and sometimes we don’t understand exactly what’s going on.
“She’s had enough attention for a lifetime now, in a year.”

Meghan Markle news: Princess Diana was “instrumental”, said Kevin Costner (Image: Getty)
Former actress Meghan Markle made her final appearance as attorney Rachel Zane on Wednesday 25 April, 2018.
During his interview, Mr Costner also discussed Princess Diana being in line to star in The Bodyguard before her untimely death in 1997, after Sarah Ferguson encouraged the collaboration.
He said: “Sarah was really instrumental in that. Something I always admired about Sarah was how open she was to that idea and how supportive she was of the idea, and clearly how much she liked Diana.
“When we lost her, that was tragic. Incredibly tragic, and private to me actually. I didn’t talk about it for a year, and somebody else talked about it and that’s how that story bubbled up a while ago.
“There was a little discrepancy about whether it was true or not, and we worked our way through that.
“But one of the things about Sarah that I don’t know people know is, Sarah in trying to help this along never once said ‘well what about me?’
“She never joked about it, she never hinted at it, she was all about Diana. It was really incredibly respectful the way she was.”
