MEGHAN Markle exchanged a heartwarming embrace with a royal fan waiting to see her as she greeted onlookers after the Christmas service after the young girl captured her attention with a small sign.
Meghan Markle attended Christmas service at St Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham with husband Prince Harry, Prince William and Kate, Duchess of Cambridge on Tuesday. Meghan and Harry took time to chat with fans waiting to catch a glimpse of the Royals in attendance and to wish them a Merry Christmas with flowers and small tokens of admiration. One young girl captured the attention of the beaming Duchess of Sussex, who was quick to hug her after spotting the small sign on which the royal superfan had written down her Instagram username.
Jessica, 17, and Meghan had exchanged several messages on the social media platform before the Duchess shut down her account before her wedding to Prince Harry in April.
The young girl said: “I started watching Suits, then I started following her on social media and then followed her acting and followed her humanitarian work, so I’ve been a fan of her for years.
“There were a group of us girls on social media she became kind of close with and interacted a lot online.”
Jessica said the former actress had indeed recognised her and asked about the rest of the social media group and whether they had remained in touch.
She continued: “This is the first time I’ve met her, she just said ‘it’s so lovely to meet you, incredible to finally see you’
“She was asking how we all are and if we’re still talking and supporting each other.”
Meghan Markle stunned in a black calf-length dress, coat and knee-high boots, and finished off her look with a matching hat with feather details, black leather gloves and bag.
Walking arm in arm with Prince Harry, the Duchess of Sussex failed to completely conceal her growing baby bump with the all-black outfit as the open double-breasted coat gave royal fans a glimpse of her blossoming pregnancy.
Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, and Prince William also greeted fans outside of St Mary Magdalene’s Church following the service.
Kate donned a ruby red velvet coat with by Catherine Walker which costs an estimated £3,000, finishing off her look with £425 red suede heels by Jimmy Choo.
She also sported a £650 felt burgundy headband with a black felt bow by milliner Jane Taylor.
Kate and Meghan appeared to be dismissing rumours about a rift between the two sisters-in-law which have been spreading over the past few weeks.
The Duchesses were rumoured to be in a royal rift in recent weeks, with Meghan and Harry announcing plans to move out of Kensington Palace to Frogmore Cottage.
Meghan reportedly left Kate in tears over her “stressful” demands for Princess Charlotte’s bridesmaid dress, at a fitting for her royal wedding.
An insider previously told the Daily Telegraph: “Kate had only just given birth to her third child, Prince Louis, and was feeling quite emotional.”
However, it is believed the Duchesses have since put the incident behind them.
