Meghan Markle is wearing ONE necklace on royal tour for THIS special reason
MEGHAN Markle has been spotted wearing the same necklace several times throughout her tour of Australia and New Zealand, sparking rumours it has a very special meaning.
The Duchess of Sussex has stunned with her maternity style since announcing her pregnancy last week but it is the the jewel in her small necklace which has caught the most attention.
Meghan, 37, has been pictured wearing the same onyx and diamond necklace to several events in her royal tour of Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Tonga with husband Prince Harry.
The nine carat rose gold accessory, which was designed by Pascale Monvoisin, hangs on a gold chain and costs £295.
It has proved so popular with followers of the Duchess’s style that it is currently sold out on Net-a-Porter.
The Duchess, who is due to give birth in the spring next year, has worn the necklace on a number of occasions since arriving Down Under including on her visit to Fraser Island with Prince Harry where she paired it with a striped maxi dress.
She was also snapped wearing the necklace with a white shirt and checked blazer combo when she arrived at Dubbo Airport in Australia with the Duke of Sussex.
The black onyx stone is apparently representative of Meghan’s star sign, Leo, and is said to signify peace, harmony and love as well as happiness, good fortune and strength.
According to Crystals Online, the stone can also help the wearer approach a lesson or task with self-confidence, a trait Meghan has certainly needed as she tries to navigate her first royal tour.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are halfway through their royal tour and are currently in Fiji where Prince Harry thrilled locals by sipping the islanders’ traditional drink, kava.
Meghan’s visit to a market to meet female entrepreneurs was cut short today due to security worries after hundreds of people packed a small square to try and meet her.
She was due to meet female vendors as part of the UN Women’s Markets for Change project.
However the visit abruptly ended seven minutes later after too many people packed the Suva Municipal Market to try and catch a glimpse or a photo of the 37-year-old.
A royal aide said the market visit was a spontaneous addition to the tour after Meghan heard about the project at a morning tea earlier in the day.
The aide said: “She met everyone she was meant to meet and left.
“On advice she was taken out due to crowd management issues.”
Shobna Verma, a legal advisor to Suva Market Vendors’ Association, presented Meghan with a bouquet of flowers.
Mrs Verma, 58, who sells eggs at the market, said: “The duchess asked me if the programme really is making a difference and I told her there have been a lot of positive changes, but we are still waiting for more.”
The royal couple will travel to Nadi in Fiji tomorrow before continuing their tour in Tonga later this week.
