MEGHAN MARKLE cried whilst watching the 1997 funeral of Princess Diana according to a leading royal author.
The claim was made by biographer Andrew Morton in his book ‘Meghan: A Hollywood Princess’. During the funeral Prince Harry and Prince William joined Prince Charles in walking behind the carriage.
Harry was aged just 12 when the funeral took place on September 6 1997.
Princess Diana died on August 31 in a Paris car crash.
Mr Morton claimed Meghan was “devastated” by the death in his book.
He added she watched Diana’s funeral, during which “tears coursed down their cheeks” at a very touching moment.

This happened when cameras at the event focused on an envelope next to the coffin which had “Mummy” written on it.
It had been written by the young Prince Harry.
Mr Morton also said Meghan and her friends used to rewatch video from Diana and Charles’s 1981 wedding.
In his book he also claimed Meghan took inspiration from Diana, including in her charitable interests.

He wrote: “As friend Ninaki Priddy observed: ‘She was always fascinated by the royal family.
“‘She wanted to be Diana 2.0’.”
According to The Daily Mirror, Megan was so interested in Diana she had a copy of Mr Morton’s 1992 book ‘Diana: Her True Story in Her Own Words’.”
Meghan and Harry began their relationship in June 2016, after meeting via a blind date organised by a mutual friend.

They married in May 2018 at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.
A number of UK and US celebrities attended, including George Clooney, Serena Williams and David Beckham.

A year later, in May 2019, Meghan gave birth to the couples first child, Archie Mountbatten-Windsor.
The baby, currently seventh in line to the British throne, currently holds both UK and US nationality.
However, unlike his cousin Prince George, he is not automatically entitled to be called His Royal Highness (HRH).
Dr Jonathan Spanger of Manchester Metropolitan University, specialises on the institution of the monarchy.

He told the Daily Mail why Harry and Meghan may not wish for their son to become HRH.
He said: “People who are not HRHs are free to go off and start business ventures and companies and whatever they like.
“Harry and Meghan’s baby could grow up to be a bit more normal, or as normal as they can be in this media-centred world.”
