Meghan Markle and Princess Diana: How the Duchess is channelling Diana through style
MEGHAN Markle stepped out at Royal Ascot in a remarkably similar ensemble to that of Princess Diana’s Royal Ascot outfit in 1986 today as she follows in the footsteps of her late mother-in-law.
Here are the times the Duchess of Sussex paid tribute to Princess Diana through her flawless style.
Princess Diana remains one of the most stylish royals in history and a royal fashion muse.
Meghan may be establishing herself as a fashion icon, but royal watchers cannot help but notice the subtle similarities in style between Meghan and Diana.
The Duchess of Sussex made an appearance at the wedding of Princess Diana’s niece Celia McCorquodale sporting a blue and white printed dress by Oscar de la Renta for the occasion.
And her choice echoed the Princess of Wales, who wore a similar blue and white print on a Catherine Walker tunic during a trip to Saudi Arabia in 1986.
This is not the first time Meghan has channeled the People’s Princess.
The daring pale pink Carolina Herrera dress Meghan Markle wore to Trooping the Colour 2018 is a reminiscent of Diana’s off-the-shoulder Catherine Walker design she wore to the Berlin Opera House Gala in 1987.
