The programme is based around Time magazine’s annual list of ‘100 Most Influential People’. For the first time American broadcaster ABC is producing a show announcing the winners and celebrating their achievements.
The Duke and Duchess are due to make an appearance during the programme.
However, this has angered some royal fans who responded to a tweet about the event by ABC by pledging to miss the segment.
Patricia Watts, a self-described royal enthusiast from Louisville, commented: “I know what I’ll be skipping’.
Another Twitter user from New York added: “Thanks, I’ll pass on the whole mess.”

Those featured include politicians, cultural figures and sportspeople such as Angela Merkel, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Dan Macsai, TIME chief executive, said the programme will “recognise the extraordinariness of this year”.
Speaking to E! News Ian Orefice, TIME studios president, said: “In a year in which we are unfortunately unable to convene the TIME100 community together in person, we are excited to celebrate the extraordinary achievements of the members of this year’s list with a brand-new experience on ABC that will allow more people to participate than ever before.”
