MEGHAN MARKLE and Prince Harry will be influenced to spend more time abroad after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were hit with extraordinary criticism amid a private jet row, according to a royal expert.
Richard Fitzwilliams said Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, will take on more responsibilities overseas to avoid criticism at home. His prediction comes after the pair were attacked for travelling on multiple trips by private jet, despite both being vocal on climate change.
Both the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have spoken out on environmental issues insisting more needs to be done to protect the planet.
But the royal couple have come under fire for using private jets throughout the summer, despite speaking about the “climate emergency.”
Speaking about the criticism, Mr Fitizwilliams said: “This is an extraordinary public relations debacle. I suspect it will influence planning for Harry and Meghan to spend more time and take on more responsibilities abroad.”
Mr Fitzwilliams said Meghan and Harry received “hagiographic” support when they were engaged and then married in a spectacular 2017 Royal Wedding.

But he said there is now “resentment” among the public who were cut out from the christening of Archie Harrison – the couple’s firstborn son.
He said: “Resentment over the handling of Archie’s birth and particularly the “private” christening, arguments over who and what was ‘private’ and ‘public’ including a ridiculous incident at Wimbledon and a series of speeches and the highly controversial guest editing of Vogue by Meghan have led to this, with Harry being considered ‘woke’.
“The British taxpayer contributed £2.4million to restore their home of Frogmore and they should guard their home base.
“If you are perceived not to practise what you preach you are criticised as they have been for taking private jets even if omissions are offset.”

But he said it was important to remember the couple were “not ordinary citizens” and need “privacy” while on holiday.
He added: “The celebrities supporting them are right to say that they are attacked unfairly.
“Harry could not be more protective of Meghan. I think the level of criticism, in some cases abuse, in social media and in the press has been deplorable and enormous.”
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex sparked fury after it was revealed they travelled to Ibiza in a private jet earlier this month, and later travelled to Sir Elton John’s house in Nice by private jet.

Criticism was levelled at Meghan and Harry appeared to increase after the pair decided to keep details surrounding the birth of their son, Archie Harrison, under wraps, and even decided to hold his christening behind closed doors.
Meghan and Harry have been vocal about the dangerous impact of climate change, with the Duke of Sussex revealing in an interview that the pair were only looking to have two children for the benefit of the environment.
Prince Harry said: “I’ve always thought: this place is borrowed. And, surely, being as intelligent as we all are, or as evolved as we all are supposed to be, we should be able to leave something better behind for the next generation.”
But some celebrities have come to the couple’s defence.

Jameela Jamil, who featured on Meghan’s Vogue cover, hit back against critics, claiming it was not safe for the public if royals travelled on commercial flights.
She tweeted: “It’s not safe for us to be on the same planes as royals or presidents you absolute muppets. They are prime targets for kidnap and sometimes assassination.
“It’s in the interest of us civilians to not be endangered by proximity to people in such powerful positions.”

Meghan’s close friend Jessica Mulroney has also leapt to the defence of the former actress with a graphic she posted on Instagram, reading: “When someone faces unfair criticism, you call it out.
“When that person is your friend and your family, you call those critics what they truly are. Shame on you, you racist bullies.”
