MEGHAN MARKLE and Prince Harry received a Christmas present for baby Archie that was the subject of a fierce row on Channel 5’s Jeremy Vine.
The royal couple were given a ball pit for baby Archie this Christmas, however, the fact ball pits are usually made out of plastic has drawn criticism. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are very vocal in their support for tackling environmental issues and Jeremy Vine panelist Lowri Turner said accepting the gift sent the wrong message. Jamelia, another panelist, disagreed with Ms Turner’s stance and strongly defended the couple.
Jamelia said: “They got a ball pit as a gift and obviously the papers are saying this is really bad.”
Lowri Turner asked: “What is a ball pit made of Jamelia?”
Jamelia replied: “Well this is the thing people are now attacking them because it is made of plastic.”
Ms Turner said: “A huge amount of plastic.

“Who else has a ball pit? Killing the planet personally.”
Jamelia responded: “That’s the thing, this was a gift, so they can say someone else gave it to him.”
Host Jeremy Vine then gave his opinion: “I have not previously thought that a ball pit is an atrocious thing.
“The thing I have heard about ball pits is that in public they have got so many germs no one child should ever go near them.”

Jamelia replied: “That’s why we have them at home and the thing is as well I am a huge advocate for wooden toys and stuff like that.”
Mr Vine joked: “In Lowri’s house she has a ball pit made of wood.”
Mr Turner responded: “We have to remember here are a couple who do promote themselves as being interested in the fate of the planet.
“You can’t have a ball pit made of massive amounts of plastic!”

Jamelia hit back: “What you’re suggesting is that they should basically live in a tent and light fires.”
Baby Archie spent his first Christmas with parents Meghan Markle and Prince Harry in Canada, as the pair enjoyed a break from royal duties.
Meghan’s mum Doria Ragland joined them for the festive season.
A source told the magazine US Weekly: “Archie is the centre of Meghan and Harry’s world and they can’t help it.
“For Christmas, they bought him books, building blocks and a baby ball bit.
“It’s not all about extravagant gifts for them.”
