MEGHAN MARKLE and Prince Harry sparked an angry reaction from royal fans over their comment on an Instagram post for Prince Louis’ birthday.
Prince William and Kate shared adorable new pictures of little Louis yesterday on their Instagram to mark his first birthday. The Sussexes commented: “Happy Birthday Louis! Sending lots of love from both of us xo.”
The post prompted a backlash from royal followers as Meghan and Harry did not use the tot’s official title.
One Instagram user wrote: “@sussexroyal if you don’t believe in titles that’s fair enough, but then don’t expect people to use yours to address you.
“This is a public forum, not a private home. it takes away from the royal mystique to make the BRF sound too everyday.”
Another said: “@sussexroyal It’s Prince Louis to you; he outranks you both.”
A third added: “That’s Prince Louis to you, @sussexroyal.”
One more wrote: “He is a prince… and also 5th in line so should be address by his title as show of respect …not just Louis..@sussexroyal.”
Another said: “Why not post on your own Instagram page?? Just had to come here and take some attention away as usual…yawn.”
However, others were quick to rush to Meghan and Harry’s defence.
One said: “Some of you should get over it! They are related. I wouldn’t call my nephew Prince!”
The Sussexes’ comment prompted fresh speculation that Meghan is personally writing messages as it included “xo” – meaning a kiss and a hug – at the end.
The US-born former actress often wrote “xo” in posts on her old social media accounts.
William and Kate released three new snaps of Louis, who is fifth in line to the throne, to celebrate his birthday.
The Sussexes came under fire again for posting wildlife pictures taken by Harry just hours before amid rumours of a rift with the Cambridges.
An insider told The Telegraph that Meghan and Harry’s new head of PR Sara Latham did not expect Harry’s photography to get so much attention.
