PRINCE William “distanced” himself from Meghan Markle during Christmas celebrations in Sandringham, an expert has claimed, amid an reports of a supposed feud between the Cambridges and Sussexes.
Meghan and Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge were all smiles during Christmas celebrations at the Queen’s Sandringham estate. Putting any alleged differences aside, the pair were pictured chatting and laughing as they headed to the St Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham for a morning service. However, royal fans were notice that William and Meghan quite distant, as the pair did not exchange words or glances at each other. As the royals left the church, Meghan was seen turning to her right to face William but instead he turned away to his left, fiddling with his scarf.
During 2017 Christmas celebrations in Sandringham, Meghan and William were pictured chatting and laughing as they left St Mary Magdalene Church.
The royals appeared to behave differently this year according to psychologist and body language expert Darren Stanton, who claimed William was actively trying to “distance” himself from Meghan.
He told Express.co.uk: “Williams body language is quite interesting because as soon as he registers Meghan is besides him he immediately distances himself over to his far right.
“This is called distancing behaviour and is generally unconscious when someone’s in a situation they want to escape from.
“Personal or physical distance is one of the first things they will do.
“If someone has lied and is being challenged, similarly, we would see simply distancing gestures or defensive gestures live using a clip board or coffee cup to psychologically block the threat.
“I also notice there appears to be no dialogue, this is in stark contrast to last year when we observed William interesting with Meghan.
“There is clearly an issue as William was probably upset with Meghan if the rumours are true about Meghan and Kaye having a feud.”
Social media users were quick to respond to the feud speculations, with many insisting Meghan and William were on sour terms.
One user said: “So sad that before Harry was married, three of them could act goofy to each other. Now they don’t.”
Another said: “I don’t know. It is just sad to see diversion between them. They have always had each other’s back.”
One added: Look William being super obsessed with his scarf.”
Meghan and Kate were rumoured to be in a rift in recent months, with rising tensions between the Cambridges and Sussexes.
This comes after Meghan and Harry announced plans to move out of Kensington Palace to Frogmore Cottage in Windsor.
However, the royals were said to have put their differences aside during Christmas celebrations in Sandringham, following the Queen’s orders.
A source told The Sun Online: “The Queen and Charles have allowed the situation to play out without overtly interfering — but they both made it clear that Christmas was for the whole family to really come together.
“That meant the two couples walking into church together as the Fab Four just like they had last year. Yes, it was awkward and uncomfortable given what’s gone on over the past 12 months.
“But the alternative of even more negativity on Christmas Day wasn’t worth thinking about.”
