All in the name of Canada Day.
Archie Mountbatten-Windsor will want for nothing in his life. Born into the royal family, the first child of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will live life as a private citizen while still benefiting from the opportunities that come from having such regal heritage. And it seems the eight-week-old has already got started with the finer things in life – like monogrammed outfits.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Instagram account, @SussexRoyal, has been active ever since it was started back in April. In celebration of Canada Day, which took place yesterday, 1 July, Meghan and Harry posted a series of photographs linked to Canada on the social network.
Canada is a sentimental place for the Sussexes, as Meghan lived in Toronto for years while she filmed Suits in her former days as an actress. The couple also made their first public appearance together in Canada, watching the Invictus Games and looking all kinds of loved up when the competition was held in Toronto in 2017.
Posting on Instagram yesterday, Meghan and Harry wrote: “Happy Canada Day! Canada is a very special place for both The Duke and Duchess. The Duke has been fortunate to visit the country several times throughout his life, including as a young child and most recently for the Invictus Games in 2017, where the now Duchess joined him to lend her support. The Duchess lived and worked in Toronto for many years and also spoke at the One Young World Summit held in Ottawa.”
The photographs in the mini-album included pictures of the Duke and Duchess attending an event at Canada House in London to mark Commonwealth Day, photos of Prince Harry’s previous trips to Canada, and a special one at the end of an Archie-sized jacket.
The jacket, made by Toronto-based apparel company Roots, has both the Canadian and British flag on one arm, and the initials ‘AW’ on the other. Presumably standing for ‘Archie Windsor’, we can gather from this that the two-month-old royal baby is being dressed in snazzy personalized clothing – and we bet he couldn’t look any cuter in it.
The jacket, it seems, was given as a gift to Meghan and Harry by Canadians, considering the caption reads: “They send their great thanks to all of the kind Canadians who have sent such special gifts for Archie!”
