Media commentators are heralding a video shot in February as a “huge clue” about the rumored rift between Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton.
Speculation of serious tension between the royal ‘Fab Four’ has been growing since it was announced that Meghan and Prince Harry would be moving to Windsor, reneging on plans to live next-door to Kate and Prince William.
Since then, reports have surfaced of several pre-wedding dramas between the duchesses. Kate was allegedly “left in tears” during a dress fitting for Princess Charlotte, and was said to have told Meghan her behavior was “unacceptable” after the former Suits star berated a member of staff.
Now, according to News.com.au, a video of the young royals speaking at the Royal Foundation Forum earlier this year appears to show a tense moment that could shed some light on the situation.
When asked by an interviewer if the family ever encounters disagreements while working together, the mood on stage seemed to visibly shift.
Meghan and Kate turned away from each other, laughing awkwardly and looking to their husbands for support.
“Ooooh, yeah,” William responded to the question.
“They come so thick and fast,” Harry added, as the crowd laughed.
The interviewer probed for more information on the latest tiff, which the foursome dodged, save for William’s quip: “Is it resolved? We don’t know.”
“Well you’re putting on a great show, if not,” the interviewer said.
The royals did seem to be able to agree on one thing: that they were all very different. Harry agreed it was “challenging”, but did his best to give the dynamic a positive spin.
“I think it’s really good that we’ve got four different personalities, and we’ve all got that same passion to want to make a difference, but you know… different opinions,” Harry said.
“But look, we’re stuck together for the rest of our lives.”
More recently, it appears the royal family is doing their best to stamp out speculation about any sibling rivalry. Kensington Palace issued a rare statement claiming the incident in which Kate remanded Meghan for her treatment of an aid “never happened”.
Kate also told fans she was “absolutely” excited for Meghan and Harry’s first child to be born, adding how pleased she was for her three children to gain a new cousin.
