The 15-year-old recently stepped out in a funnel-style knee-length burgundy Hobbs coat. The recent sighting was not the first time that Lady Louise was photographed wearing the brand. In June, she wore a navy Hobbs coat for the Trooping the Colour.

Lady Louise’ brand of choice suggested that she may be taking style cues from Middleton. The quintessentially British brand is a wise option for the two female royals. Celebrity stylist Lucas Armitage told Daily Mail that there are only a few brands that are as quintessentially British as Hobbs.

“We know that the royals are prohibited from loaning or receiving gifts from fashion brands so every style choice they make is their own,” he said.

By choosing to wear the label, the Duchess of Cambridge, and possibly Lady Louise, could help boost the sales for Hobbs. In 2016, the mom of three was photographed in her Hobbs unlimited Celeste wool coat with a slim belt at the waist when she attended a Christmas Day service at St. Mark’s Church in Englefield, Berkshire.

Hobbs then saw a 14.3 percent rise in sales in the weeks following Middleton’s appearance. Middleton once again wore Hobbs on multiple occasions, and she was most recently seen in her emerald suit during her hospice visit in January 2018.

Back in 2014, Prince William’s wife also wore a pine green Persephone trench coat from the brand while handing out shamrocks to the Irish Guards at the Mons Barracks in Aldershot for St. Patrick’s Day.

According to Armitage, Hobbs may be a popular choice for royals like Middleton and Lady Louise because of its quality, design and price.

“Royal clothing budgets are not modest – but they do still have to make all their spending public, so there is some scrutiny. A few years ago, other middle market brands, such as Reiss, were far more popular while Hobbs, at one point, looked tired and dusty compared to its younger counterparts, but it has recently reinvented itself,” he explained.
