THE FUTURE Duchess of Cambridge had what is believed to be her first kiss with the brother of a close friend from Marlborough College, and was left “heartbroken” after one relationship fell apart, according to new reports.
Kate studied at Marlborough between 1996 and 2000. She reportedly had a number of relationships during her time at the school. Kate met her husband, Prince William, at St Andrew’s University when they were both students.
According to a report in the Daily Mail, Kate’s first kiss was with the older brother of Alice St John Webster, one of her closest friends.
Ms Webster, the daughter of an army officer, was given a prime seat at Kate’s 2011 wedding to Prince William.
The Mail reports that Kate went on to have a romantic relationship with Harry Blakelock, captain of the Marlborough College rugby team.
Like Kate, who played a number of sports, Mr Blakelock was also a keen hockey player.
The relationship ended when Mr Blakelock left school for a gap year, leaving Kate “heartbroken”, according to The Mail.
However, it doesn’t appear Kate was in as many relationships as some of her contemporaries.
According to one friend, she was consciously “saving herself” for someone special while at college.
Marlborough College was founded in 1843 to educate the sons of clergymen.
Women were first allowed to attend the top performing public school in 1968.
According to Jessica Hay, one of Kate’s school friends, the future Duchess was attracted to Prince William while at Marlborough.
Ms Hay told The Mail “We would sit around talking about all the boys at school we fancied but Catherine would always say ‘I don’t like any of them’.
“Then she would joke: ’There’s no one quite like William. I bet he’s really kind’.”
Despite such claim, Ms Hay went on to deny reports that Kate had a poster of the Prince on the wall of her school bedroom.
