KATE MIDDLETON, Duchess of Cambridge, and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, are destined to be the future Queen consorts. But despite their prominence and importance to the monarchy’s future, the Queen in fact prefers another – but who does she prefer and why?
Kate Middleton, Prince William and their three adorable children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, are beloved across the nation. But apparently she is not a particular favourite of one person: the Queen. So who is that Queen Elizabeth II prefers to Kate and Camilla?
The Queen is the longest-lived and longest-reigning British monarch in history.
In her 93 years, 67 of which she has been the Queen, she has welcomed a myriad of new additions to the royal family.
But, like many others around the world, she is not always close to all of the additional members of her family.
But why is Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, and the future queen consort, not one of the Queen’s favourites – and who exactly does the 93-year-old mother-of-four prefer to Kate?

In total, the Queen and Prince Philip have four children, eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Through marriage, Britain’s “first couple” has an additional 11 family members, including the divorced and dead.
Given the vast number of people in her family, the Queen is able to be picky about which members she spends time with.
One particular way she reveals her closeness and preference for members of her family is in who she chooses to ride to church with.

According to a royal expert, the Queen’s most common choice of companion for her journey to church at Sandringham or Balmoral is Sophie, the Countess of Wessex.
Sophie, the wife of the Queen’s youngest son Prince Edward, first joined the royal family in 1999.
The 54-year-old mother-of-two formerly worked in public relations, but now works as a full-time working royal.
The couple has two children: Lady Louise Windsor and James, Viscount Severn, who are respectively 13th and 12th in line to the throne.
A royal insider told the Sun: “The Queen likes to be completely calm before church and she finds Sophie’s presence soothing.”
They added: ““She is trusted and relied on by the Queen in a way I couldn’t say applied to the Duchess of Cambridge or the Duchess of Cornwall.
“She is like another daughter to Her Majesty, they are that close.”
But why exactly is Sophie the favourite?

Some believe Sophie is the Queen’s favourite because of her background in PR and her understanding of what is expected of a royal.
Many royal wives and husbands have fallen victim to mistakes when learning about the expectations of a royal life, but Sophie appears to have a relatively smooth sail into her role as a royal.
Additionally, it is thought that the Queen respected Sophie’s decision to keep working in public relations after she married Edward.
Although she has since given up her work, which included her own company, the royal continued to work independently for three years, until Prince Edward and Sophie both announced their plan to give up their careers in aid of the Queen’s Golden Jubilee year.
Others believe the Queen’s preference is due to her old-fashioned values.
Edward is the only one of the Queen’s children who is still married ot their first spouse.
The royal source told the Sun that the Queen “knows that is in no small way down to Sophie’s dedication – she is aware, as his Edward’s mother, what a tricky creature he can be”.
In fact, the Queen is said to be such a strong advocate and fan of Sophie, that she advised Meghan markle to use Sophie as a mentor and ally when she joined the royal family, in lieu of her stepmother-in-law Camilla or even her sister-in-law Kate.
Sophie and Meghan are believed to have spent plenty of time together in the past few years and are said to get along very well.
A source told Grazia: “The Queen likes the idea of Sophie being an unofficial mentor to Meghan.
“Sophie is often at Windsor taking the kids riding on the Queen’s horses and playing at the castle. It’s a quiet lifestyle, very much the kind Harry and Meghan want for their little one.”
