KATE MIDDLETON was advised by Buckingham Palace to watch old footage of Princess Diana – something the Duchess of Cambridge found “creepy”, unearthed reports claim.
The Duchess of Cambridge has long been compared to her husband’s mother, the late Princess of Wales. During the couple’s tour of Pakistan this week, the similarities between the two have been clear for all to see. On day two of the visit, Kate’s dress bore a striking resemblance to the blue floral pattern outfit Diana wore when she met young cancer patients in a Lahore hospital in May 1997.
While yesterday, the Duchess wore a headscarf very similar to the one worn by the Princess of Wales when she visited the same mosque.
Despite royal fans praising the Duchess for her style on social media, the designer behind some of Kate’s outfits said any similarity with what Diana wore was just a coincidence.
Maven Khan told BBC Urdu: “As far as my designs for the Duchess are concerned, I didn’t have any particular idea or colour in mind.
“I understood that she needed something simple, classical because she’s fond of elegance.”

She added that she thought blue would “blend” with her fair complexion.
When Kate first started dating William, the future Queen reportedly claimed she had no interest in following in Diana’s footsteps.
However, according to a 2011 Vanity Fair report, the Duchess was instructed to act more like her mother-in-law by royals insiders.
Ms Nicholl wrote: “I was told that the Palace had advised Kate to watch footage of Princess Diana getting in and out of her car so that she could learn how to handle the paparazzi.

“Kate told a friend it was ‘creepy’ watching the archival footage, but it seemed to work.
“Whenever she was photographed leaving her Chelsea home or the Boujis nightclub, Kate exited her car gracefully, smiled broadly, and navigated the paparazzi-lined pavements with aplomb.”
Ms Nicholl quoted royal historian Dickie Arbiter as saying: “She [Kate] always smiles and never says a word, which is exactly what she has been trained to do.”
Editor-in-Chief of Majesty magazine, Ingrid Seward recently claimed Diana would have “recognised how good Kate is” for William, if she had had the chance to meet her.

Speaking to the Daily Mail alongside a number of Diana’s friends and close confidantes, Ms Seward revealed: “I think she would have been very fond of Kate, because Kate does everything right and looks gorgeous.
“And I think she would have recognised how good Kate is for William, because William is emotional and difficult.”
The author also suggested Diana would have been a fantastic grandmother.
She added: “The Goddess Grandmother, definitely.
“I think she would have been a little bit wary of Kate’s mother though, she would’ve sized her up straight away.”
Diana was tragically killed in a car accident in Paris, in August 1997, when Prince William was 15 and Prince Harry just 12 years old.
