MEGHAN MARKLE and Prince Harry asked their Instagram followers to nominate “Forces for Change” but have been plagued by trolls nominating Kate – is Kate, Duchess of Cambridge more popular than Meghan?
On Thursday evening, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex added a post to their Instagram page, asking their 9.2 million followers to nominate a “Force for Change”. They asked for nominations for people, organisations and causes “doing amazing things for their communities and the world at large”. However, fans of the Duchess of Cambridge have taken to the comment section, nominating Kate.
The full post from the SussexRoyal Instagram read: “For the month of August we look to you for help.
“We want to know who YOUR Force for Change is…. Each month, we change the accounts we follow to highlight various causes, people or organisations doing amazing things for their communities and the world at large.
“Over the next few days please add your suggestions into the comments section: someone you look up to, the organisation doing amazing work that we should all be following, an account that inspires you to be and do better (or that simply makes you feel good), or the handle that brims with optimism for a brighter tomorrow.
“We will choose 15 accounts and follow them next Monday, as we spend the month of August acknowledging the Forces for Change in all of our lives.”

Whilst many comments are nominating charities such as Parkinson’s UK and The Giving Keys, others have put forward members of the Royal Family.
One post read: “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, obviously.”
Another said: “Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Kate should be on the Vogue cover!”
A third added: “My force for change is @kensingtonroyal”
A fourth said: “Duke and duchess of Cambridge @heads_together.”
Other commenters have even nominated the Queen, with one writing: “Her Majesty The Queen. Head of the Commonwealth, one of the most diverse, inclusive organisations on earth.”
Whilst another stood up for Meghan and Harry writing: “It is idiotic to mention the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and the Queen.
“Harry and Meghan are their family, know their work and follow their account.

“They have worked with the Cambridges on the mental health issue and continue to do so.”
Some have complained their votes for their chosen person or charity have been deleted, with one saying: “Where’s all the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge votes gone?”
This is not the first time the royals’ social media posts have been hijacked by commenters, as it was reported in January Kensington Palace staff spend a large amount of time deleting vile comments about both the Duchess of Sussex and Duchess of Cambridge.
A royal source told Hello!: “The Palace has always monitored comments but it’s a hugely time-consuming thing.

“They can block certain words, but some of it is quite serious.
“Over the course of last year, with hundreds of thousands of comments, there were two or three that were violent threats.
“You can delete and report and block people and the police have options around particular people.
“It’s something you have to manage because there’s no other way to control it.”
