KATE MIDDLETON is a favourite across the nation, but once Meghan Markle joined the royal family, it was reportedly made apparent that the Queen preferred her to Kate.
Queen Elizabeth II is the longest-reigning British monarch in history undertaking hundreds of engagements each year, despite being almost 30 years older than the state retirement age. She has a vast family who help to ensure the monarchy undertakes many public events, fulfilling their destiny and duty. But some members of this prestigious family are closer than ones.
According to reports, the Queen immediately warmed to Meghan who “makes her laugh” but “steered clear” of meeting Kate, Duchess of Cambridge when she was dating Prince William.
Reportedly the reigning monarch waited a full five years since the couple began dating to finally meet her.
Whereas, given the whirlwind romance between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Queen met the Duchess of Sussex much earlier in their relationship.
One expert even claims the Queen “doesn’t have an intimate relationship” with Kate to this day.

Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine, told Fabulous Digital: “The Queen admires Kate tremendously but does not have an intimate relationship with her as they don’t have much in common.
“I think the Queen and Kate have a more serious relationship as obviously Kate holds all the Queen’s hope for the future and she would not want to do anything to upset that.”
She added: “I can’t see what she would have in common with Kate apart from her royal duties.
“The common bond with Kate would be her children and I can’t imagine the Queen spending too much time talking about them; she is a very shy woman, which is why a common subject like horses is so helpful.”

Prince William first met his future bride Kate when they were both studying at St Andrews University in Scotland.
It is thought it was around the time of Prince William’s 21st birthday, after he had seen Kate walking in a catwalk fashion show.
Four years after they began dating, the couple hit a rocky patch which saw them call time on their relationship for a brief period.
According to sources, Prince William was unsure about his relationship with Kate and even shared these feelings with his loving grandmother the Queen.
The couple later reconnected and the relationship restarted with gusto.
But it took a full year for the time to be “right” for the Queen to arrange a time to meet Kate.
The Queen reportedly “steered clear” of meeting her grandson’s girlfriend until it was serious.
In Kate and William’s engagement interview in 2010, Kate said: I first met the Queen at Peter Phillips and Autumn Phillips’s wedding… it was in amongst a lot of other guests and she was very friendly.”
Since that time, the Duchess of Cambridge has only praised the Queen and their relationship did appear to be stronger.
However, as Meghan Markle has joined the royal family, comparisons have been made to the nature of the Queen’s relationship with both women.
It is thought that Kate’s relationship with the Queen is more formal and one of propriety.

Whereas, the Duchess of Sussex is believed to have escaped the formal distance and instead shares a touching bond with the Queen.
Ms Seward told Fabulous Digital: “With Meghan she would tread very carefully and do her best to make her feel at home.
“They have a love of dogs in common and Meghan knows how to make her laugh.”
The royal author added:” The Queen has an acerbic wit and of course is an excellent mimic so she can be very entertaining – but she never forgets she is Queen even with her grandchildren.”
But even Meghan is not the Queen’s favourite.
In fact, the Queen is said to be closest with her daughter-in-law Sophie, Countess of Wessex.
The Queen is said to be such a strong advocate and fan of Sophie, that she advised Meghan markle to use Sophie as a mentor and ally when she joined the royal family.
Sophie and Meghan are believed to have spent plenty of time together in the past few years and are said to get along very well.
A source told Grazia: “The Queen likes the idea of Sophie being an unofficial mentor to Meghan.
“Sophie is often at Windsor taking the kids riding on the Queen’s horses and playing at the castle.
“It’s a quiet lifestyle, very much the kind Harry and Meghan want for their little one.”
