Kate Middleton and Prince William in Norway: Why the Duchess kept her coat on at ALL times

KATE MIDDLETON, the Duchess of Cambridge, has just returned from her royal tour of Sweden and Norway with Prince William. Temperatures in the Scandinavian countries are currently freezing, and the Duchess understandably wrapped up warm in an array of thick coats – but why did she never remove it, even in the presence of the Norwegian royal family at their home?

Kate Middleton, 36, and Prince William, 35, embarked on a royal tour of Sweden and Norway this week and soaked up the culture both Stockholm and Oslo had to offer.

As well as visiting the royal families of both countries, the royal couple met with Swedish ice hockey players, attended black tie dinners and spent time on the slopes with the Norwegian Ski Federation.

Both Scandinavian countries are in the midst of winter, with temperatures currently -2C in Stockholm and -6C in Oslo, and Kate, who is currently pregnant with her third child, understandably wrapped up in an array of coats – including a £650 jacket by Kjus.

But even when the Duchess was pictured inside in the warm she chose not to remove her coat – and there’s a reason why.

According to OK! Kate’s decision to keep her coat on – even in the presence of the Norwegian royal family at their home – is part of strict royal fashion rules.

The online magazine reports no female members of the royal family remove their coats in public.

This is because reportedly it is deemed unladylike to undress in public.

So if they turn up to an event wearing a coat, the removal of the coat is never caught on camera.

This isn’t the only fashion rule female members of the British royal family abide by.

While Kate, the Queen, 91, and Meghan Markle, 36, always step out wearing flawless make-up and not a hair out of place, it appears there is one beauty rule they cannot regiment.

All women in the royal family are never seen wearing coloured nail polish.

The reason why is royal etiquette – fake nails or coloured nails are just not appropriate.

But royals are allowed to wear nude-coloured shades, which are barely noticeable, should they so wish.

The Queen has actually been wearing the same nail polish colour for almost 30 years.

The shade? Her Majesty has been wearing Essie’s ‘Ballet Slippers’ since 1981.

The British nail polish brand, Essie, was launched in 1981, by a woman named Essie Weingarten.
