KATE, the Duchess of Cambridge, and Prince William sent Instagram into meltdown after posting to Instagram an excerpt of a moving speech the Duke made at the Pakistan Monument.
The post has already received over one million views and has a short video of William delivering his speech attached. During the speech, the future King of England praised Pakistan for the huge strides it had made in the 72 years of its existence. He also referenced previous visits to the country by his grandmother, the Queen and his mother Princess Diana.
In the Instagram post the Duke of Cambridge says: “It is our great pleasure to join you here this evening on our first official visit to Pakistan.
“I would like to begin by saying bahut shukria to you all for making us so welcome in your country.
“Stood here with this magnificent monument behind me, I am struck by the great strides Pakistan has made since its birth seventy-two years ago.
“The view from this hill would have been quite different when my grandmother, The Queen, first visited over half a century ago.

“Looking out, one would have seen the beginnings of a city under construction, yet to become the great capital that it is today.
“And with successive visits by my mother and my father, this view has continued to change, with the city constantly growing and with it my family’s affection for Pakistan.

One wrote: “Love you, William. Your mom would be so proud!”
While another compared the Cambridges to maturing wine, writing: “Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are like wine getting absolutely divine with age!”
And yet another follower praised their tact and dress sense, commenting: “Both are so compassionate and also dressed so apparently.”
The reception at which William delivered his speech was organised by the British High Commissioner to Pakistan in Islamabad.

It was held at the Pakistan Monument, a heritage museum built to symbolise the unity of the Pakistani people.
The country has very poignant associations for William on account of his mother Diana, Princess of Wales.
Diana’s first planned visit to the country had to be cancelled due to the military coup in 1990.

However she was determined to go at all costs and the trip was rearranged for the following year.
The Princess dazzled in daring outfits and broke traditions by shaking hands with male officials.
But the visit was a roaring success, prompting the UK’s High Commissioner to send a telegram back to Whitehall, declaring that “the Princess of Wales took Pakistan by storm.”

Later Diana would become romantically involved with a famous Pakistani heart surgeon, Dr Hasnat Khan.
Dr Khan is a distant relative of Pakistan’s prime minister, Imre Khan.
Princess Diana met Dr Hasnat Khan in 1995 at the Royal Brompton Hospital in London, when he was treating one of Diana’s friends.
